They’re not cheap, and they’re certainly not discreet, but they do deliver some seriously stellar sound quality for your favorite mp3s. But what if your style-conscious self isn’t crazy about over-the-ear headphones… and even less in love with the $300 price tag? Thankfully, someone equally style-savvy (but perhaps much more “experimentally” so) has designed her own fashionable equivalent without sacrificing the sound value. LC Lauren Conrad For Kohl’s Appeals To Recessionistas

imageLike most celebrity designers with high-priced items, appealing to the masses has become the latest trend. Target, Walmart and Kohl’s have replaced Bloomingdale’s, Saks and Barneys. Who can afford those anymore? And so celebrities, or their advisers, got smart. Sell your clothes for less in highly trafficked discount stores. Genius! The latest celeb designer to jump on the trendy-for-cheap bandwagon is Lauren Conrad herself. While LC’s casual, Cali-chic pieces used to sell for upwards of $150, her line at Kohl’s, LC Lauren Conrad, is priced below $50. Consisting of laid-back tees, tanks, dresses and jeans, the line is actually pretty nice for casual wear. I even saw a pair of boyfriend jeans for $37! Her line debuted on September 15th in select Kohl’s nationwide and her second collection hit stores October 1st. imageFreida Pinto is, of course, the notorious sweetheart in yellow from last year’s critically and commercially-acclaimed “Slumdog Millionaire.” She wowed in her performance, with her poise being thrust into stardom, and moreover, with her red carpet skills. From her rave John Galliano to her clear penchant for Chanel, the girl can seemingly do no wrong. Channel Freida in your closet by taking advantage of traditional flattering cuts, whether it’s a one-shoulder top, or a nice wide boat neck. Choose jewel tones that flatter your skin tone. Perhaps most importantly, take a risk with embellishment – sequins, lame and bows – and keep it streamlined. No need for the Bedazzler here, folks. Give An LBD A Fashion-Forward Edge Like Ellen Page

imageAt the L.A. premiere of Whip It, actress Ellen Page looked chic, timeless, and simultaneously cutting-edge. Ellen rocked a long-sleeve Alexander Wang LBD (long sleeve mini-dresses are all the rage this season). She took this basic staple to the next level with a funky pair of Rachel Comey booties, an embellished Jimmy Choo clutch, and layered David Yurman chain necklaces. This look was totally on-point and is fashion-forward but still totally wearable. I love how Ellen toughened up a classic closet staple but still kept the look feminine and sexy. imageWhen you think of Martha Stewart, what first comes to mind? Probably that she’s a domestic goddess and a bit of a stickler. She’s a go-getter and is good at everything. We’ve always thought she was pretty, but did you know she was once a glamorous model? Tory Burch is currently spotlighting Martha Stewart on her website. Martha Stewart in her younger, most fashionable days. And when you see the pictures, you might not even believe it’s her. Tory writes about the time she went to visit Martha Stewart and saw a wall full of photos from Martha’s modeling days in the 1960s. She says, “It also struck me that everything Martha was wearing in the pictures looks so modern.” And we have to agree. In our favorite photo above, Martha is wearing a perfectly-fitting trench coat. And after awhile, despite all the different washes and dyes and distressing, they all start to look the same. Leave it to Jessica Alba to give me some inspiration for updating my denim collection! Constantly seen out and about LA with daughter Honor in tow, Jessica Alba’s nearly always in jeans for ultimate comfort and mobility, and despite juggling her little one and a demanding career, she always makes time to look stylish on the go. Lately she’s been rocking Black Orchid’s Black Betty skinny jeans — dark classic skinnies updated with hook and eye closures at the ankles for a little dash of edginess. The dark wash makes them appropriate for both dressing up and looking casual-chic — making them the perfect addition to my collection! Which CW Starlet Looked The Hottest At Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood Party?

imageSomehow Teen Vogue’s annual Young Hollywood Party seemed so much more laid-back without having to watch Lauren Conrad run around backstage on the verge of tears like a chicken with its head cut off. While I’m sure there were plenty of other interns slaving behind the wings making sure it all ran smoothly, the event was much more enjoyable from our view on the red carpet. After all, what’s a Teen Vogue party without the chance to really check out the entrance ensembles! With all the black, chrome, and grey dresses and pantsuits, I couldn’t help but ask myself, has fall finally arrived, or is everyone just feeling “blah” tonight? And also, who are some of these people? I had to give credit to CW’s newest bad girl, Katie Cassidy, for brightening the mood with a seriously colorful corseted number… while her fellow station-pals Jessica Stroup and AnnaLynne McCord kept it cool in monochrome. Hot In The Hive: Bounkit’s Amethyst Cuff, As Seen On Leighton Meester

imageAlthough it’s only in its third season, it’s hard to remember a time when there was no “Gossip Girl” in our lives. There were no full-fledged fashionista high-schoolers with wardrobes that would turn Victoria Beckham green with envy, or crazy and twisted love stories that make you wonder … when are these people actually in class? Who did we turn to for juicy, over-indulgent guilty pleasures and lust-worthy fashion items that we knew weren’t affordable but put it on the shopping list anyway, along with numerous other unattainables? I cannot, for the life of me, remember what we used to do on Monday nights at 9pm. Well, their costume department has done it again, and this time it’s with a gorgeous, sparkling bracelet that is elegant, sophisticated, youthful and not exactly cheap. However, the Amethyst Cuff by Bounkit Jewelry is the kind of jewelry that, although flashy and eye-catching, is still feminine and demure enough to wear with a whole variety of outfits. A flowing tops and skinny jeans for daytime would look amazing topped off with this brilliant piece, while a black dress and sky-high heels would stand out even more. Either way, there is no denying the beauty and appeal of this Bounkit cuff, and how much we wish we could just snatch it off Leighton Meester’s dainty little wrist and make a run for it!
