Luca Nichetto‘s La-Dina is a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional wooden chairs from the Dolomite mountain range in west Austria and north-east Italy.

Its name is a pun on Ladin – Ladina in Italian – the language spoken by the people who once built their settlements in the region.

Luca Nichetto has simplified the form, using rounded lines and including a small upside-down triangular hole that punctures the back rest.

The legs are fixed into the solid wood of the seat, which in turn is secured to the backrest using a clamping wedge.

La-Dina is made from ash wood and is available in a range of colours.

The design marks Casamania‘s 30th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of its collaboration with Nichetto.

Smaller containers in contrasting colours are also available, designed to compliment the family of sideboards.

The cabinets are mounted on either a low, recessed base or metal square-section legs that raise the cupboards further away from the floor.

Here’s some more information from Casamania:

Chariot is a mobile table consisting of three simple elements joined together: wheels, trays and structure. The wheels, which in common carts are usually small, are brought to the extreme size, becoming the iconic element of the project.

The rubber profile is inserted into the wheels for easy movement; the two trays act as storage compartments, the metal structure is also a handle: slightly raising the cart, it can be moved.

The information below is from Alain Gilles:

Container Sideboard Design Alain Gilles for Casamania

Container is a modular sideboard system. As if a regular sideboard had been split into different elements, different “containers”.

Container Sideboard by Alain Gilles for Casamania

It is really a research on deconstruction and reconstruction. As if a “standard” sideboard with its different storage functionalities had been split into various elements just to be reconstructed in a different, uneven manner.

Container Sideboard by Alain Gilles for Casamania

A research on the architecture of a piece in order to bring forward its construction logic. In a way, a “landing dock”, the base, and a few “containers” that can be set one on top of the other… hence its name.

Container Sideboard by Alain Gilles for Casamania

The work on the structure is further highlighted by the association of different materials and finishes applied to each structural element.

Container Sideboard by Alain Gilles for Casamania

By playing with different types of finishes and settings several furniture pieces with their own personalities and functions can easily be created form the same original elements. Thus, it will either be seen as more a sideboard, dresser, media storage cabinet or television stand and find its way into different rooms of the house.

Container Sideboard by Alain Gilles for Casamania

When several elements are combined, it behaves more like system.

General dimensions:
228 x 60 x 89cm (W x D x H)
89.8 x 23.6 x 35 inches ( W x D x H )

Materials: base in Elm wood, containers in lacquered MDF.

Maritime
Inspired by traditional wooden shipbuilding techniques maritime is a solid wood range of chairs that are skinned internally with a formed plywood shell.

Maritime by Benjamin Hubert for Casamania

The construction technique where the supports are visible on the outside allows for a distinctive design language that is in harmony with the material and production. The ribs allow for a structurally robust chair with minimum use of material.

Maritime is comprised from solid and laminate ash and offered as an upholstered option. To enhance the construction details the range is also offered in translucent dyed colourways.
