Kim Kardashian’s A Beauty Editor For OK!

imageKim Kardashian’s playing a smart game! The reality show star and gossip circuit regular has signed up with OK! Magazine to talk all things beauty. After finally taking the plunge in the world of brunette-to-blond and back again (and applying what must be gobs of lipgloss and mascara before every event), Kim’s definitely qualified. Why is this a smart move from Kim, and not just for the obvious extra notoriety and attention? Now she might be able to keep herself in-the-know about nasty rumors that come up about her, and she will be able to avoid any particularly egregious lies being spread by certain magazines. We love Kim’s look, and if there’s one thing she’s got down pat, it’s got to be makeup! We’ll be reading her tips and critiquing on the regular, but we have no doubt that she’s succeed. NYFW Backstage Beauty: Charlotte Ronson

imageFor her Spring 2010 collection, Charlotte Ronson was inspired by the ballerinas of New York, specifically the way they look when leaving dance class and mix their dance attire with their regular clothes. To enhance this motif, hair stylist Allen Ruiz from Avon and makeup artist Charlotte Willard for Maybelline created just-walked-out-of-dance-class looks that were fresh and natural-looking. The hair was pulled back into chic, slightly undone buns and the makeup was kept soft, sheer and translucent. I got the chance to hang out backstage before the show to talk to the stylists and watch the looks come to life.

NYFW Backstage Beauty: Twinkle by Wenlan

imageBackstage for Twinkle by Wenlan gave the nasty weather outside a bit of a run for its money. The colors were bright, the hairstylists used the rainy clouds to its advantage, and spring was definitely in the air. The hair was kept loose and wavy and the face was vibrant and fresh. John Ruidant of Redken and MAC makeup artist Gianpaolo Ceciliato gave us the rundown on what inspired them and how they created each look.

NYFW Backstage Beauty: Andy & Debb

imageWith a pop of spring color on the lips and a clean French twist, Andy & Debb’s spring 2010 show didn’t disappoint. As I spent time backstage, I became inspired by the almost dual personality given to each girl. The look described a daring sophisticate. I spoke with hair stylist Danilo, makeup artist James Kaliardos, and Dashing Diva’s Pattie Yankee, to discuss how they created the looks for this show.

NYFW Backstage Beauty: Rosa Cha

imageInspired by the colors of the Rosa Cha Spring 2010 collection, hairstylist Edward Tricomi and MAC makeup artist Philippe Chancel created a fresh, feminine look for the runway. The hair was styled into chic chignons and the makeup was kept minimal. From bright bandeaus to an iridescent glow, the two pros shared with me how to recreate this summery look.

NYFW Backstage Beauty: Julie Haus

imageFrom skincare to nails, backstage for the Spring 2010 Julie Haus collection was all about grunge, rocker chic. In one corner, hairstylist Oscar Blandi was creating a tousled, slept-in look while celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann was applying a smudged finish to the gunmetal shimmer. On the other side, Stila makeup artist Sarah Lucero was focusing on creating a messy yet pretty eye, and Bethany Wojtech for Arcona was going over how the all natural skin care line is perfect for the models’ skin during fashion week as they go from show to show (something that I had always wondered!).

From the skin to the hair to the makeup to the nails, we spoke to all the experts. Click here to find out exactly how to replicate the looks!

Hot In The Hive: Golden Sparkle Sauce

imageI know, the name sounds delicious… but you can’t eat this sauce! Golden Sparkle Sauce by Pop Beauty comes in what appears to be a puff paint squeeze tube, but it’s actually a powerful weapon in maintaining smudge-free eye makeup! The shimmery substance can be applied as a layer on your lid over shadow and liner to seal eye makeup for a twinkling waterproof finish, or it can be mixed with loose glitter or pigment to serve as a long-lasting adhesive for otherwise hard-to-apply loose powder. The result? Budge-proof shadow and liner with a little dash of extra dazzle. Sparkling magic in a bottle!

Price: $10
Who Found It: xgalexy was the first to add Golden Sparkle Sauce to the Hive.

NYFW Backstage Beauty: Vena Cava

imageVena Cava’s spring 2010 show brought together MAC makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds and Beauty.com hairstylist Ted Gibson, where together they created a sophisticated yet updated look to compliment the collection. With the use of black visors and dark sunglasses, Gibson stayed away from an uptight ballerina ponytail and went for a textured one instead, showing off the girls’ dual personalities while Simmonds created a violet lip (can we mention he made the shade himself!) for a graphic feel to balance out the look.

Get Eyes That Smolder With Fall’s Best Brow Tools

imageForget the complicated eyeshadow techniques and fluttering false eyelashes — this fall, it’s all about going back to beauty basics with come-hither brows. Since you may overlook doing up your eyebrows beyond your basic waxing or tweezing regime, it’s easy to forget just how dramatically different your look can change with even the slightest shaping. After all, they do serve as the vital frame for your face, and this upcoming season’s brow trend is bold and strong yet still distinctly feminine. While you don’t need to go as far as Megan Fox with the dark dramatic arches, consider a flattering reshaping with a set of stencils and keep straying strands in place with a sleek brow gel. You’ll be surprised at how much a pair of neat, bold brows can really amp up your whole face — not just your powerful peepers! Check the slideshow for the must-have tools to add some pow to your brows!
