Laser beams are incredible

A detail from the Refill 7 Laserdeck Skateboard Show. Pretty crazy stuff, the poster for the event was even laserbeamafyed.

Carabiner with double hooks.

The advantages seem obvious. We use carabiners for a lot of things, including attaching keys and water bottles to pants, and keeping tools from getting lost. This smart double carabiner we didn’t even know about, but it’s on our Christmas wish-list now. Made in stainless steel and available in several sizes. This one is USD 2:71 on Amazon.brbr

Siggi Eggertsson

An illustrator from Iceland, now in London, whose style reminds me of pixelated artwork that was popular a few years back.

Siggi puts a different spin on it though, working with curves and triangles. Lots to see up on the site, apparently this piece came out of some work for H&M.

Elly Wall

Ellywall

I hope you haven’t missed this post about Elly Wall her sensitive clay over Bientôt Demain yesterday …

The Rösle serrated peeler.

It all started when we fell in love with the amazing serrated peeler from Messermeister (black) we found during a visit to the Sur La Table shop in San Francisco. The peeler also was the subject matter for our very first post on Smart Stuff. We even liked it so much we bought a few and used them as prizes in our very first contest. A little later we found the Zyliss’ version of the same idea (red) and we did a comparison test. Who won? Check out this page. Now, today when we were browsing Williams-Sonoma for new products, we found the Rösle version (stainless). we have not had the opportunity to try the Rösle peeler, but if it’s anywhere near the other two, it must be great. You can get one from Amazon for USD 24:-.brbr

Studio Violet‘s Chlotespeg church

Studioviolet

Split ordinary wood clothespegs. Glue them to a formation/building (church or what you like). Use thin wood boards to make a roof, glue. Paint all of it, or not. Saw a hole for a door, and if you want, make a cord holder for a lamp (40 watt) and light it up.

Add what ever you want to decorate and build a whole world around it. Here we´ve used a cone, candy balls on thin steel wire, recyled paper to cut out a bird, roof plates and stones. Voila, ready to play!Studioviolet_dark

… just a little bit more about Studio Violet … Camilla Engman and Elisabeth Dunker are two, I think, famous artists/designers/stylists/creators who recently opened a studio together in Göteborg, Sweden. Not only are they working on their own separate projects, but they also combined forces and launched their first gorgeous product-line together … here are some images of the journals, cards and posters, all available in their online shop!

Dressed Up or Dressed Down?

If you wear these sneakers, are you dressed up or dressed down? Hmmm.

Dorm Room by Le Corbusier & Charlotte Perriand

Dorm Room by Le Corbusier & Charlotte Perriand

Living in graduate student housing isn’t all that glamorous… the architecture and interior design of my temporary living situation is new and clean, but lacks any semblance of taste, character, or style. The most frustrating thing is knowing that a much better solution could have been realized at the same cost or even cheaper. Also, I know I’ll get fined if I try to change anything… I would stay in school indefinitely if it meant living in a dorm room imagined by Le Corbusier and Perriand!

(via hoping for happy accidents)

At last, a serious looking ice scraper.

Remember when you tried to scrape the ice off your windshield with a cassette box? Or maybe with a CD jewel case? Well, now that temperatures are dropping below freezing, it’s about time to take inventory of your ice scrapers. We don’t know about the rest of the sub-arctic world, but at least in Sweden we tend to amass piles of plastic square ice scrapers given away by businesses as a promotion. But there are very few professional looking ice scrapers out there. Here’s on, and it looks ready to kick some serious ice butt. Enter the IceDozer. It comes with two handles, a brush, a snow plow, a flexible scraper and a small tool for removing ice from your windshield wipers. Yours for USD 19:95.brbr

Huset

Huset
I always love to show Scandinavian designs on Bloesem so I was very happy that a terrific online shop, Huset, is a new sponsor of Bloesem selling many fantastic pieces from various Scandinavian designers like the Fiducia Magnetic Candlestick vase or holder from Louise Campbell

Huset_shelf Or the Nero shelves designed by Nanni Holén. When designing the shelves Nannie was decorated shelves you sometimes find in old cupboards and Nero received the Swedish design "UNG" award this last year.

You can visit Huset , which means "the house" in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian right here for some very nice and unique modern scandinavian designs.
