Dezeen Watch Store: the latest watch in our collection is by Japanese designer Satoshi Wada for Issey Miyake and features details inspired by car design.

The solid watch case makes reference to the wheel of a car, with the hour markers slotted between the case and an inner stainless-steel ring to resemble a tyre.

The face features gauge-like details with three chronograph dials and long slim hands that replicate speed dials found in cars. The watch also has a date function at the three o’clock position that adds to the mechanical look, along with the three crowns set on the right hand side of the watch case.

Dezeen Watch Store: Simply Elegant is the second watch inspired by iconic Swiss railway clocks from Mondaine at Dezeen Watch Store.

This classic watch has the same easy-to-read face and famous red ticker as the original railway clocks designed by Hans Hilfiker in 1944 and features a slim 6.22mm case that sits snuggly against the wearer’s wrist. Simply Elegant is available with a red strap and a 36mm face, or black with a 41mm face.

In 1986, Swiss watch brand Mondaine adapted the clock to a watch under official license from the Federal Swiss Railway. Also available at Dezeen Watch Store is Evo Quartz, the original adaptation from Mondaine.

Dezeen Watch Store: the newest watch added to our collection is the 3012 Series by Finnish designer Mats Lönngren. The watch features two disks layered on top of each other that mark the time instead of traditional watch hands.

Lönngren designed the disks with small triangles protruding from the edge to pinpoint the time. The disks are different colours to distinguish between the hours and minutes.

The watch has a rubber strap and a matte stainless steel case. It comes in three colourways: white and orange, black and orange and white and grey.

The watch is designed by Mats Lönngren who is currently working at the design agency Pentagon Design in Helsinki. The 3012 Series is the first watch he has designed for Scandinavian watch brand Hygge.

Dezeen Watch Store: Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and we have two watches by Mr Jones Watches of London that will make the perfect gift for your loved one.

Love Knows Not (above) is the first watch in our Valentine’s Day selection. Crispin Jones of Mr Jones Watches based the design on the idea that the watch hides a secret message between lovers. 

As time passes, a seemingly nonsensical jumble of letters rotates around the watch face. Once every hour the letters assemble to spell the phrase “Love knows not what time is”. As quick as the phrase is spelt, the letters fall back into an illegible scramble to hide the message once again.

The second watch available exclusively for Valentine’s Day is Always On My Mind (above), also by Crispin Jones of Mr Jones Watches, who based the design of the watch on the sentimentality of a love letter.

Instead of traditional hands, the watch displays the word “always” as the hour hand and the words “on my mind” for the minute hand. This statement reminds the wearer that not a minute goes by without their loved one thinking about them.

Dezeen Watch Store: Saturn is the first digital watch by Hong Kong watch brand Ziiiro to feature at Dezeen Watch Store.

As with most of the Ziiiro collection, Saturn doesn’t use traditional time-telling methods; the watch instead features segmented LCD rings to tell the time.

The outer ring consists of 12 sections that illuminate one after the other as time passes to count the hours and the inner ring has 60 segments to count the minutes.

The digital display features a back light, which is turned on by the button positioned at two o’clock on the outer case. The logo at the centre of the watch is illuminated in the afternoon and dark in the morning to indicate whether it is am or pm.

The watch is available in three colours: black, gunmetal, and chrome. It comes with a stainless steel mesh strap that can be adjusted to fit the wearer, also seen on Celeste by Ziiiro. See the full Ziiiro collection here.
