The 251 Series incorporates a variety of classic colour palettes, including the popular gun grey with a tan strap and three options that we have back in stock once more: satin gold with a black strap, gun grey with a taupe strap and brushed steel with a walnut brown strap.

The timepiece takes features from mid-century gentleman’s wristwatches and applies contemporary details, including square baton-style hands, raised hour markers and textured dials.

A chamfered chapter ring adds depth to the face.

Each watch is powered by ETA Swiss-made movements, and is completed with a calf leather strap and a scratch-resistant sapphire lens.

The 251 Series was designed to be as slim as possible and measures 7.8mm in depth, allowing a sleeve cuff to sit comfortably over the case.

Movie: in this exclusive interview Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon discusses the design of his first watch collection, which is available to buy now at Dezeen Watch Store.

Orolog is a new watch brand created by Hayon and his business partner Ian Lowe.

The OC1 series, the brand’s first collection, is a chronograph timepiece featuring a square stainless steel case and leather strap.

“The idea of the watch is very simple,” says Hayon. “I wanted to do a very compact case that has details of different influences that I thought were nice to put together.”

“It’s a little bit of a new classic, that’s the idea I had from the beginning.”

The OC1 series comes in five colourways, including a green and blue version among more traditional colours such as brown, black and white. Each colour is available in a limited-edition run of 999 pieces.

“I thought about a mixture of colours and combinations that could be classic as well as some that could be sporty or some that are more, let’s say, shocking,” says Hayon. “The pieces are going to be limited, they’re pretty exclusive.”

Orolog features a number of subtle details. The face of the watch has a distinctive quilted texture, while the glass that encases it is slightly curved.

Each watch is made in Switzerland and features a robust Ronda quartz chronograph movement inside.

“There’s a little bit of playfulness in the watch, which I wanted from the beginning,” Hayon says. “The idea was always to create something strong enough that also looks good and has those little details that make it unique.”

Dezeen Watch Store: London watch brand Uniform Wares has launched the 104 Series, which is available now in black, blue and orange.

The 104 Series is an update of Uniform Wares’ popular 100 Series collection. The new series retains the straightforward simplicity of the original 100 Series design, but now incorporates Swiss-made 5-jewel Ronda movement, bringing the 104 in line with the rest of the Uniform Wares collection.

Contemporary touches including hand-applied batons, slimmer hands and raised hour markers update the design, resulting in a wearable, unisex style. The watch is finished with a rubber strap and hardened mineral crystal lens.

The 104 Series is characterised by colour blocking and texture; each timepiece incorporates subtly different shades and contrasting materials on the case, bezel, dials and markers.

The 100 Series was originally inspired by the minimal and utilitarian design of factory wall clocks and British manufacturers including Smiths Sectric and Gents’ of Leicester.

Dezeen Watch Store: Italian designer Denis Guidone has designed a watch based on smooth, flat pebbles – and the Stone watch is now available to purchase from Dezeen Watch Store.

Stone, designed for Italian brand Nava, comes with three interchangeable leather straps, allowing the wearer to easily customise the look of the watch.

The distinctive, irregular shape of the dial is inspired by the smooth contours of weather-worn stones and pebbles and is complemented by a minimal face that is designed to be read at a glance.

The asymmetric dial and off-centre hands reference Guidone’s playful approach to time telling, a concept the designer first explored in the Ora Unica watch, which won the Aam O’Eva Creations international design prize in 2008.

Stone is available with a black or white face, and three straps: black, ash grey and taupe. Other features include a stainless steel case topped with a scratch-resistant mineral lens and Miyota 2025 movement. London Design Festival 2013: Dezeen Watch Store will be popping up at designjunction in central London from tomorrow. The store will debut a selection of men’s watches from the new Nixon S13-3 collection.

We’ve partnered with lifestyle brand Nixon to debut its new S13-3 collection during the event. The range will feature four new watches, including a military-inspired timepiece called The Corporal, and The 51-30 Leather Chronograph, a large timepiece with a 51mm face and a unidirectional rotating bezel made from stainless steel with a countdown timer and pushers.

Opening tomorrow, our Dezeen Watch Store pop-up will also include a selection of our bestselling watches including Uniform Wares, NAVA and ODM.
