Dezeen Watch Store: the 250 Series, the latest design by best-selling British watch brand Uniform Wares, is now available at Dezeen Watch Store.

250 Series by Uniform Wares at Dezeen Watch Store

Similar to the recent 150 Series, the 250 series has been designed with the features of a classic gentlemen’s dress watch.

Detailing on the watch includes raised hour markers from the casing, textured hand dials as well as a chamfered chapter ring adding depth to the face.

250 Series by Uniform Wares at Dezeen Watch Store

It is available in a collection of three finishes new to the Uniform Wares collection; a satin gold case with a tanned black leather strap, a fine satin brushed case with a walnut brown tanned leather strap, and a matt gun metal grey case with a taupe strap.

The leather strap is sourced from Italian and British tanneries and the watch mechanism is a Swiss made ETA movement.

Here are some more details from Uniform Wares:

250 Series wristwatch

Uniform Wares continues its growth apace with the launch of its latest collection, the 250 Series.

250 Series by Uniform Wares at Dezeen Watch Store

Taking inspiration from the simple, legible elegance of post-WWII gentlemen’s wristwatches, the 250 Series includes classic design details such as applied hour markers and textured dials, as well as contemporary touches such as baton-style hands, a chamfered chapter ring and a 39mm case resulting in a modern dress watch that is extremely wearable and very much in keeping with Uniform Wares’ streamlined aesthetic.

250 Series by Uniform Wares at Dezeen Watch Store

Following on from the launch of the 150 Series in June, the British-designed 250 Series continues the brand’s reinterpretation of classic detailing for a contemporary audience.

250 Series by Uniform Wares at Dezeen Watch Store

The piece was conceived as a reinterpretation of a classic dress watch. We wanted to scale up the case and lift dial details to improve legibility and enhance the presence of the watch on the wrist.

250 Series by Uniform Wares at Dezeen Watch Store

Textures and colours have been chosen carefully to soften the contemporary contours of the case.

250 Series by Uniform Wares at Dezeen Watch Store

Each watch in the series has scratch-resistant sapphire glass for improved clarity, Swiss ETA movement and a matt-textured, buttery soft strap in oiled calf leather.

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

Dezeen Watch Store: O, a watch by Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka for fashion band Issey Miyake, is now available at Dezeen Watch Store and at our Dezeen Space pop-up from tomorrow.

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

O consists of a mirrored watch face embedded in a transparent grey plastic bangle.

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

Yoshioka designed the watch to appear as though sculpted from water.

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

The clear plastic bracelet reveals the wearer’s wrist as well as reflecting their surroundings, like the play of light on liquid.

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

The name of the watch comes from the French word ‘eau,’ meaning ‘water’ and pronounced “O”.

Other Issey Miyake watches on Dezeen Watch Store include VUE by Yves Behar, Trapezoid AL by Naoto Fukasawa and Hu by Ross Lovegrove.

Here are some more details from manufacturers Seiko Instruments:

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

“O”, produced by ISSEY MIYAKE and developed by Seiko Instruments Inc., was launched at the Basel World in Switzerland in March of 2011 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the ISSEY MIYAKE watch project.

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

“O” is designed, aiming to go back to the origin of the watch.

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

It is as if sculpted from water, and creates the scenery which only the time itself embraces the wrist of the wearer.

O by Tokujin Yoshioka at Dezeen Watch Store

The smooth curvature of the transparent bangle leads our eyes to the mirror finish body, which reflects the scenes of the surroundings, and gradually blends into the environment as if disappearing the form of itself.

Using the transparent special plastic material, “O” opens up a new direction in watch design with non-definitive form like water, which is as if freed from the concept of the materialism.

The Last Laugh by William Andrews for Mr Jones Watches at Dezeen Watch Store

The Last Laugh by William Andrews for Mr Jones Watches

Dezeen Watch Store: the latest design from Mr Jones watches, which tells the time through numbers on the teeth of a skull, is now available at Dezeen Watch Store.

The Last Laugh by William Andrews for Mr Jones Watches

The Last Laugh is a collaboration between BAFTA award-winning comedian William Andrews and Crispin Jones of Mr Jones Watches.

The Last Laugh by William Andrews for Mr Jones Watches

The numbers are printed on two rows of teeth that rotate behind an opening in the watch face as time passes. The skull image was chosen as a memento mori to constantly remind the wearer that life is short and they should live every day to the full.

The Last Laugh by William Andrews for Mr Jones Watches

Cyclops, another watch by Mr Jones Watches, also disposes of the customary hour and minute arrangement, creating a new method of time telling.
