A coracle is a type of primitive boat invented in Wales. The unique design consists of a willow-rod framework tied together with bark strips, then skinned with an animal hide and rendered watertight with tar. Designed for rivergoing fishermen, the one-man craft is light enough to be carried across one’s back.

London Skyline Chess

Coco Fresh Air

Inspired by the coco pod, we have here the Coco air cleaner, which recreates an atmosphere of a meadow freshness in your urban home. It doesn’t use electrical energy to function, instead the forces of integrated magnets within each pod create a slight movement of gathered COCOs to power it. This air purifier has a shell and changeable aroma with air cleaning capsules inside. Looks and feels fresh!

Coco is a 2013 Electrolux Design Lab Semifinalist.

UnCasted Cast

It’s bad enough that you have broken your arm and have to be out of action for almost three to four weeks; you also have to endure an unsightly cast. Unless something like this really tech-enabled U-Cast pops up! Totally impressed by its innovative approach of incorporating design into something very medical.

Santa & Cole

King and Queen Chair by Jeong Yong

Industrial design student Jeong Yong has created a pair of chairs with grid-like frames based on traditional Korean furniture.

“I was inspired by the patterns which are normally used for Korean traditional house and furniture,” Jeong Yong told Dezeen.

“I believe that Korean traditional houses and furniture are practical, and the balance between straight lines and curves of the pattern makes it more beautiful.”

One chair is lower and wider than the other, and Jeong Yong has personified the set by naming it King and Queen Chair.

“The King is not too fancy but has strong facial impression. However, the Queen is more fancy and at the same time she lowers her position to warm a embrace,” the designer said.

The chair is made from sepetir wood and will come in black or white.

The Optimus Prime of Dog Sleds

Groups that live on the snow tundra must often keep two or more entirely different types of dog sleds for their various transportation needs…. one for passenger, one for cargo, another for single riders and so on. The Nerpa sled was designed to make the transition between uses much easier by using a moveable system of joints and connections that quickly transform to accommodate different loads. Aluminum and carbon elements also make it lighter and more durable.

The Sawdust Sucker Upper

The average person doesn’t keep construction goggles or a shop-vac handy, so it’s likely that you know just how irritating it can be to have dust and debris flying all over the place (especially in your eyes) when you’re using a drill! This ingenious device called the Motorless Vacuum uses the drills own rotational power to move the internal fan and create suction which draws dust into the reservoir. After you’re finished drilling, just remove the peripheral and dump the sawdust!
