Coquette Is Lovin’ The Zipper Look!

imageEarlier in June I posted some cute outfits and accessories with zippers. Well the zipper trend is even stronger this fall, making its way to even more clothing and accessories. I love this Mason by Michelle Mason Zip Shirtdress ($407 at Shopbop) to pair over leggings or tights and this simple Loeffler Randall Double Zipper Top (On Sale for $120.40). Both say stylish without going over the edge in punk. As for accessories, these grey Ruffle Zipper Pumps are beyond adorable… and if you have any money left after splurging on all these cute finds, keep your change in this Colorblock Zipper Wallet! See more at Coquette!

Bento 3 adds sharing and security, integrates iPhoto

bento_box
Back in May, I reviewed the iPhone version of Bento, Filemaker’s personal database application. There were a couple comments asking whether Bento supported encryption and sharing, and, as of yesterday, I’m happy to say that it does.

Bento 3 was released yesterday, and they’ve added not only the ability to secure fields and share libraries over your home network—just like iTunes—but Bento integrates iPhoto so you can create personal databases that help you organize photos, iCal events, emails, Address Book contacts, spreadsheets, lists, PDFs you’ve created with your ScanSnap, and pretty much any other clutter in your digital life.

Be sure to check out the Bento Template Exchange to check out database templates other users have created, or share your own.

Bento is $49 ($29 upgrade).

Donald Fishers Death Leaves SFMOMA Scrambling

0928fishsanfran.jpg

In a strange bit of strange, on Monday we posted that GAP founder Donald Fisher had announced his decision to let the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art take his art collection for the next twenty-five years. Then, just five minutes later, Stephanie posted the news that Fisher had died late Sunday. Judging from the close proximity of those two posts, you can see that the latter news came as something of a shock. Though ours was just distant “a news-maker guy we know about” sort of shock, which is nothing compared to how the aforementioned SFMOMA has had to deal with the news. Apparently a lot of the details of Fisher’s donation hadn’t been worked out, including when it was going to happen and how the museum was going to go ahead in building a new wing to house it all. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the museum has formed an emergency committee to help try and figure out just what’s going to happen, largely all about said new wing and where it needs to go.

“This all happened quickly,” says Libby Garrison, a museum spokeswoman. “We have a handshake, but not many details beyond that.”

Dizzee Rascal x Nike x Ben Drury: Air Max 90 Tongue N’ Cheek

dizzee-nike-3.jpg

Pairings between sportswear giants and hip hop stars regularly make style blog headlines these days, but few come from a genuine partnership like the latest collaboration between Nike, Dizzee Rascal and his longtime collaborator and digital distributor 7 Digital‘s creative director Ben Drury. Named the Nike Air Max 90 Tongue N’ Cheek, after Dizzee’s new drop, the shoe has sneaker freaks around the globe jocking it already.

With a nearly all-tan outer, offset by a pink tongue n’ cheek logo designed by Drury on the tongue, and complimented by the London rapper’s independent label logo on the sole, the shoe channels Dizzee’s style and personality perfectly.

Since launching at the Nike 1948 shop and community sports space in Shoreditch last Friday, the limited edition shoe has been literally running out across London with rumors only 20 pairs remain in the U.K.

Debuting the shoe alongside the release of his fourth album, Dizzee spoke openly about the collaboration and his genuine appreciation for the Nike Air Max 90 series, “I’ve always loved these shoes and I got maybe 65 pairs at home. When the call came up, I was like all for it because it’s a good shoe innit? The Air Max is the street shoe, so it just made sense.”

Continuing his down-to-earth spiel, he lashed out at those who will dismiss his latest album as too pop, “It’s like, whatever! Shut up! I make music. I’m an artist. I make what I want and I do what I want. I work with the best. I’m not naming names, but people say ‘why haven’t you worked with this or that person?’ It’s like why would I pay $250,000 to work with someone like Kanye, when I can pay nothing and work with someone who’s just as talented and skilled as he is?”

For more info on the availability of the Nike Air Max 90 Tongue N’ Cheek, contact Nike 1948 using the info below. The Tongue N’ Cheek album is available here or from 7 Digital in the U.K. You can pre-order from Amazon in the U.S.

Gizmodo Gallery ’09 Walk Through

Returning to New York after last year’s success, we caught up with gadget blog Gizmodo editor and tech junkie Brian Lam for a personal tour of the Gizmodo Gallery. Packed with DIY interactive creations, vintage gadgets, weird and expensive devices, a huge tv, and an automatic pancake making machine (awesome), the highlight for us was Austin band ArcAttack and their daily performances with sound producing telsa coils.

Part educational and part nostalgic, the exhibition was mostly about hands-on entertainment and an opportunity to geek out over some seriously cool gadgets. We got to play with o2 creative solutions’ Sketch-3D, a giant Etch-A-Sketch that can draw in 3D using a Wii-like controller to navigate, and amongst some of the guest-curated items lent for the show was Apple’s Original iPhone prototype, 1983, from Hartmut Esslinger, founder of frog design.
