Could your productivity benefit from a professional nagger?

We’ve talked in the past about how nagging the people you live with is never a good idea. It’s disrespectful, it upsets you, and it usually angers the person you’re nagging.

But, what if the situation were different and you chose to have someone nag you to keep you from procrastinating? What if you didn’t have any kind of an emotional or physical connection to the person who was nagging you to keep moving?

Last week, I learned about just such a person — a professional nagger. Her name is Rachel Cornell and people pay her to nag them.

She offers a daily nag, a power nag, an on-going nag, a week-long nag, and a community nag. She even has troubleshooting services to help you get over your bump in procrastination. I must be honest, I was flabbergasted to learn that she offered so many nagging options.

One of the reasons I think a professional nagger is an effective idea is because there isn’t a prior relationship between you and the nagger. You don’t have to sit down to dinner with your nagger. You don’t have to worry about what your nagger thinks of you. You have a business relationship with this person, and nothing else.

After learning about Rachel, I did some research and learned that there are hundreds of professional naggers available to nag at people who want their services. If you’re in the market for a push to keep you from procrastinating, do a search for “professional nagger” on Google to find one who might work best for you.

What do you think of a professional nagger? Would you ever use such a service? I definitely think I could have used one in college.

Chinese super berry – as good as they say?

We may very well be miles behind the health-food trends, but the other day we found a new product in our grocery store. A product we had not seen before. It looked much like the bag on the left above, and the label said Sun dried Goji berries. Now, what on Earth was this? A bit of research revealed that this is the fruit from either one of two closely related plants; Lycium barbarum or Lycium chinense. In English they are called Wolfberry. Both are grown commercially in China and have apparently been used in Chinese traditional medicine for thousands of years. The berry contains a lot of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins and sellers of the berries and the very expensive Goji juice naturally claim it’s the best thing since sliced bread. As far as we have been able to see, though, there are no independent scientifically valid studies to confirm the claims. But, as is the case with all traditional remedies, there is probably something there, even if it may not be as fantastic as they say.brbr

New York Fashion Week Runway: Erin Fetherston Is Fit For Living Dolls

It’s hard to mention Erin Fetherston without thinking of her whimsical and fantastical take on fashion. Her Fall 2009 collection was no different, but was a definite departure from her usual wispy ethereal dresses her devoted fans love. Instead, Fetherston threw in a little bit harlequin, toy soldier, and wild carnival themes. It may seem a little dark and sinister, but everything from the structured teacup shaped skirts to clown striped tights still had classic Erin Fetherston charm. A standout look was a black swing coat with a large bow accent and black leather trim accessorized with black leather driving gloves. Wondering who made those glittery animal masks worn atop the models’ heads? They were the work of Fetherston’s fiance, Hedi Ferjani. Black-red lipstick and layered crimped hair pulled into a loose bun are some of the ways to incorporate Fetherston’s living doll lifestyle without breaking your bank this coming fall. Mushrooms Ate My Furniture

pimg src=http://www.productdose.com/images/products/draft_5210.gif
alt= //ppDesigner Shinwei Rhoda Yen has created this line of garden furniture called Mushrooms Ate My Furniture that makes nature a part of the design. Mushroom spore is embedded in the natural wood of these pieces and eventually sprout and consume the wood. The fungi breaks down the furniture in a completely natural process of expiration. No more depending on your friends to remind you your decor is unseasonably out of fashion. If these mushrooms are anything like the ones my friends found in the dairy fields near my college, please send me a full acre’s worth. |via a href=http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/8/view/5492/mushrooms-ate-my-furniture-by-shinwei-rhoda-yen.htmlDesignBoom/a|br //p

Jenny Wicks: Root Ginger

jenny-wicks-root-ginger.jpg

Are redheads actually fiery? Are they a dying breed? Photographer Jenny Wicks answers these questions and more with her in-depth examination of red hair’s history, what having ginger hair means in society and how it biologically occurs.

Beginning with a personal curiosity, Wicks’ survey expanded into a full-on investigation. Along with her collection of photographs of 70 stunning redheads, she wrote a corresponding book that provides insight into the myths about gingers and includes the photographs from the exhibition and a 20 minute film. All of the proceeds from the various mediums go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and the book is available for purchase from Amazon UK.

PURE Furniture

pimg src=http://www.productdose.com/images/products/draft_5211.gif
alt= //ppThis sofa from a href=http://www.purebyamimckay.com/PURE/a might seem like a drab bit of seating, but look on the side and it looks like a burst of fireworks has graced your biodegradable, non-toxic textile. Though, with some Liquid Paper you could probably add the design yourself. You just have to stop huffing it first./p
