Celebs Hit Up The Cannes Film Festival For A Star-Studded Stylish Vacay

imageThe Cannes Film Festival, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious celebrations of cinema, isn’t just a film major’s dream getaway. Aside from taking place in an unbelievably gorgeous resort town that alone could lure even the most distracted and unappreciative movie-goer, the festival is the go-to event for everyone who’s anyone in the film industry for networking, premiere-hopping, and just plain lounging in resort style. This year’s festival, its 62nd edition, began on the 13th with Disney’s new 3D film “Up” and lured out film execs, Oscar winners, musicians, and socialites alike from their Hollywood haven (not to mention from destinations all over the world). Since its kick-off, the festival has been proceeding on with more buzzed-about unreleased, independent, and overseas films — from Jim Carrey’s “A Christmas Carol” to Pedro Almodovar’s “Broken Embraces” — with many more much-anticipated masterpieces packed in through its closing day, the 24th. While it seems the stars, including Eva Longoria, Tilda Swinton, and even Paris Hilton (but then again, what event doesn’t she squeeze herself into?), are spending more time stomping the red carpet than basking by the beach, but no matter which screening or luncheon they’re whisked off to next, they’re always looking their vacation best, whether buttoned-up or bikini clad. How To Survive A Red-Eye Flight And Still Look Good

imageIn theory, red-eye flights are great for people who don’t want to waste the daytime traveling. It’s definitely handy for those who want to immediately start their day at their destination instead of landing in the afternoon or evening. The first time I ever had a red-eye flight, I was stuck in the middle seat, couldn’t get any sleep, and arrived at my destination with– you guessed it, red eyes. Since my disastrous red-eye, I’ve learned ways to survive and even look good when I arrive. Staying hydrated is key, because nothing is worse than dry skin, chapped lips, and red eyes. While you still cannot bring your own water before the security check point, I like to bring an empty water bottle and ask a flight attendant to fill it up when I’m on the plane. While on the plane, either bring your own blanket and pillow or use the airline’s, plop on an eye mask with cooling gel, and you’ll be amazed at how refreshed you’ll look when you arrive. What to buy: Fall in love with jewelry from Pointe Vecchio, a bridge famous for its architecture and hanging shops. There are a variety of different styles and a reasonable range of prices. Bellini is a charming jewelry shop named after my favorite cocktail (a bellini consists of Italian Prosecco wine and peach juice). Here you will find statement pieces made out of silver and gold. Dainty Florentine Fleur-de-Lis earrings are an ideal gift. A little luxury goes a long way.

Florence is the leather capital of Italy. Great deals on leather goods can be found everywhere. Walk around a couple shops and browse through prices before making a purchase.
