Michael Jackson: “The Way You Make Me Feel”

imageYesterday’s news that Michael Jackson had passed away was a shock to not just the music world, but the world as a whole. Though headlines in recent years painted the entertainer as bizarre and reclusive, fans of the King of Pop will remember him as a superstar whose unparalleled talent and dedication to charity made him a living legend and an icon of our generation. Ask anyone which Michael Jackson hit is their favorite and you’d be hard pressed not to find someone who doesn’t list at least five. His dancing was infectious, and his music videos were unforgettable– in all of his uniqueness, he managed to unite us all. Let’s go back to “The Way You Make Me Feel” from 1987’s “BAD”– who could forget the skintight black dress, the big hair, and the high heels? And of course, those moves. He will truly be missed, but his influence will remain forever.

‘Charlie’s Angels’ Star Farrah Fawcett Dies At 62

imageFarrah Fawcett, whose feathered blond hair and unforgettable pinup poster made her an icon even before her role on “Charlie’s Angels” catapulted her to Hollywood fame, has died at 62. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 2, 1947, the actress left her hometown to pursue a career in Hollywood, starring in shampoo commercials and television guest roles until her appearance as Jill Munroe on the 1976 hit show “Charlie’s Angels” made her an international star. She went on to do off-Broadway productions and other movies including 1984’s “The Burning Bed,” and 1986’s “Extremities,” earning Emmy and Golden Globe nominations in the process. Fawcett was diagnosed with cancer in late 2006. She became close with former beau, actor Ryan O’Neal, who stood by her side throughout her struggle with the disease. Sea of Shoes’ Jane Aldridge Designs Capsule Collection For Urban Outfitters

imageShe’s got a shoe collection that celebrities would surely covet, a blog that brings in tens of thousands of hits per day, and the styling ability of a seasoned fashion editor. Oh, and she’s still in high school. Texas teenager Jane Aldridge chronicles her daily fashion adventures in her blog, Sea of Shoes, and while she makes buying a pair of Margielas sound as simple as stopping at Starbucks, her refreshingly whimsical tone and captivating photo shoots keep us coming back for more. We’re not the only ones, though- Teen Vogue has featured her more than once, Kanye’s sent her an email saying he’s a fan, and now Urban Outfitters has helped her design a capsule collection, J. Aldridge by Sea of Shoes, to be available next month. Inspired by Jane’s favorite designers, the three pairs incorporate elements of her ideal shoes, including heavy lace-up detail and avant-garde undertones. What do you think? Will you be checking out her collection at Urban Outfitters next month?

H&M Steps It Up With Jimmy Choo This Fall!

imageH&M knows how to follow up one high profile designer collection– by doing another. While many of us didn’t flip for the fluorescent frocks from the recent Matthew WIlliamson collaboration, this fall’s design star, coveted British accessories label Jimmy Choo, is sure to be another story. Set to debut in 250 H&M stores on November 14th, the collection will contain shoes, bags, and even clothing. “We are privileged to be among the fashion greats who have been affiliated with H&M, to be designing a collection that will appeal to fashion-savvy, street-smart women and to be including some great pieces for men, too,” says Jimmy Choo founder and president Tamara Mellon. The strappy patent cutout stiletto looks nice but I’m thinking the real showstopper is going to be those embellished platform zebra heels. No word on price points yet, but you can pretty much expect a sample sale-like frenzy come November. So tell us… will you be in line?

David Beckham Unveils New Emporio Armani Underwear Ads At Selfridges, We Are Not Over It

imageDressed in a navy blue Armani suit, David Beckham greeted fans at the Selfridges store on London’s Oxford Street yesterday where he unveiled his latest ads for Emporio Armani underwear, dressed in, well, not much at all. Giorgio Armani had this to say: “David has a great sense of style and is an inspiring role model– this is what makes him the perfect partner for Emporio Armani underwear.” I can think of a couple of other things that make him the perfect partner for Emporio Armani underwear, but I clearly lack Mr. Armani’s professionalism and restraint, so there you have it.

Pics are safe for work, not so safe for anyone with body image woes, Posh haters, what have you.

Emma Watson Trades Hogwarts For Burberry

imageAll I can say is WOW after looking at the new Emma Watson ads for Burberry. Photographed by Mario Testino, the 19 year-old Emma (aka Hermione Granger in the “Harry Potter” flicks) looks all grown up and oh so stylish as the new face of the British fashion house. She’s definitely come a long way from the bushy haired character she’s plays! It comes to no surprise that she’s landed a major campaign like this, but after months of speculation and many photo ops with Karl Lagerfeld, many were hoping she’d be the face of Chanel instead. Nonetheless, Emma wears the classic Burberry tartan plaid and trench coats like any seasoned fashion pro. See more photos at the UK’s Daily Mail. Catch A Preview Of The Chanel Cruise 2010 Collection In Venice!

imageCan’t make it to Venice to see Chanel’s cruise collection drift down the runway this Thursday? We can’t really help you there (our invites got lost in the mail too), but a peek at the teaser videos might console you. The camera pans over the water as it glistens, lights twinkle in the background, and a slightly somber voice croons in a language that may or may not be Italian. It’s all very dreamy and romantic and kind of brilliant in that there is nothing outwardly fashionable about it, yet it makes you want to be there all the same. But why Venice? Lagerfeld says Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was inspired by Venice in 1920, and promoted her beach pyjamas there. A Leo herself, she is said to have collected all sorts of lion figurines while visiting, as they are a symbol of the city- perhaps this will all play into Thursday’s show.
