Celebs Strut Their Stuff In Catwalk Creations

imageThere used to be a clearer distinction between models and actresses. You could do both, but usually one skill set was stronger than the other. These days, though, many of our favorite celebs are gracing the covers of magazines and pages of photo-shoots in positions that used to be mainly reserved for the models. Celebrity faces are seen all over the place now in venues and mediums outside of movies and movie promotions. Being seen and celebrated for their art (music and movies) was one thing, but now people are turning to celebs for style sense and fashion tips. Logically, celebrities are answering by stepping out in trendy ensembles taken straight from the runway and parading themselves around for their adoring public. Diva superstar, Beyonce rocks this sparkly Balmain dress and it looks a lot better on her than it does on the model! Check out the slideshow for more celebs strutting their stuff in runway creations! Which ones looked better on the celeb than the model? You be the judge!

The Coveted Loves Mahtab Azimi’s Little Black Dress

imageEveryone needs a comfy little black dress in their wardrobe arsenal. This much I know… and I have quite a few in my closet to back it up! Yet, like black shoes, there never seems to be enough! When designer Mathab Azimi sent me this lovely Micah sheered tunic dress for a review, I just couldn’t be happier. The Micah dress is made with a poly-rayon blend which has kind of a jersey feel, only softer and with more movement.

The Pros: For $69.95 this dress is really well-made. The dress is very adjustable, with a tie belt and even the sleeves are customizable with ties, and can easily be worn with bows showing in the front or back. The length of the dress will adjust according to how much you pull up the top, and you can make it shorter in front, longer in back, mini or knee length. I really liked the gathering which gives it a nice Grecian effect.
The Cons: The only real gripe I have is that it’s dry clean only. If I had to pick something else, it would be that the flip side of adjustability also means that sometimes you need to adjust the dress during the day, but not much.

All in all, it’s a great dress and since it’s done by an independent designer, the price is more than reasonable. I definitely would recommend it! Check out The Coveted for more fashion reviews!

Gossip Girl Returns Tonight With More OMG Style!

imageGossip Girl here, and now that school’s back in session, it’s time for a roll call… S?, B?, Little J? They’re all back — The Upper East side has kept us waiting all summer, and now we’ve only a few hours before we can see our favorite privileged prep-school crowd in action on tonight’s season 3 premiere! Better than the action of our much-gossiped-about New Yorkers are their wardrobes, as costume designer Eric Daman has created style after crave-worthy style that is simply impossible to ignore. This season, with a change of scenery for our older gossip folk as they enter their lives beyond prep school, we’re expecting some new looks for the already defined styles of our favorite leading ladies and gents. Serena Van der Woodsen’s whimsical boho bit, Blair Waldorf’s attention-drawing formality, and Chuck’s dapper zeal will have renditions in store to fit their more mature selves. And while the big kids head on off to bigger and better things, on the home-front, little Jenny Humphrey has matured as well; so while she’s still deep in her shredded and edgy look, we’re dying to see where her new title of Queen Bee will lead her style. One thing we do know: the new Queen has already denounced wearing headbands as crowns at Constance Billard. As for Blair, that’s one staple item that may take more than a summer to shake. Take a peek at some Gossip Girl-influenced trends in this slideshow to gear up for tonight’s episode!

Our Fave Style Bloggers Show Us Their Fall Must-Haves

imageAutumn is upon us — and so is poverty. So we’re being very choosy this year about how we’re updating our autumn wardrobes. Our favorite style bloggers get what we mean, and they’ve helpfully given us a list of their cold weather must-have items — the one or two pieces that they won’t be going without.

Kim of What Claudia Wore blog: “With me, it’s shoes — always shoes — and the taller the better. I was going to wax poetic about a pair of open-toed Frye booties that stole my heart. But then — speaking of impractical cut-outs, right? — I happened upon this blazer. No good would come of me owning it. Inevitably, it’d lead to a lot of outfits featuring tank tops. In October. In New England. Whatever — I must have it. I love unexpected details, those pieces that make people cock their head slightly and say, ‘Huh.’ I love those moments when it all comes together and you get that Holy Grail of personal style compliments: ‘Only you could wear that.'” Click on over to our friends at Lemondrop to keep reading!

Video Style Steal: Rihanna & Her Boys “Run This Town,” Street Warrior Style

imageAfter all the relationship drama and Hollywood hype she’s had to deal with in the past year, Rihanna is back — and she’s not coming quietly. In Jay-Z’s latest single “Run This Town,” also featuring Kanye West, RiRi makes it clear that she’s armed and ready for the spotlight, stronger and fiercer than ever. The politically-charged video was filmed in New York’s Fort Totten Park and depicts a chaotic mob revolt, representative of a more literal take on the song’s title. While an exact replication of Rihanna’s video get-ups may send more than a few quirked eyebrows your way, you can take her militia-style costumes as inspiration in perfecting your own look as a style soldier. CollegeCandy Shows How To Jump On The High-Waisted Skirt Trend!

imageLike most of you, I am a [recently graduated but not willing to accept it] college student who would rather dish out money for fashion than food. But sometimes, like in a recession (or when I’m really hungry), that doesn’t work out so well. A girl’s gotta eat (and look fabulous), right? Which is why I was having some serious issues lately. You see, I am in love with the whole high-waisted skirt look that I see on celebs like Lauren Conrad and Amanda Bynes. It’s slimming and cute and I loooove it. But I can’t justify spending a good chunk of change on a skirt that will be out of style in 6 months when I have 10 perfectly fine skirts lining my closet. So I decided to figure out a way to turn what I already got into what I want. Turns out, it’s not that hard to make your own high-waisted skirt. Even for crafty rejects like myself. Jump over to the CollegeCandy blog for the quick & simple step-by-step!
