Get The Winning Look From Our ‘Reality Beauties’ Poll!

imageEvery girl knows that it’s important to keep up a beauty regimen, regardless of how simple or complicated it is and reality stars are no different! Last week, we asked you which reality star beauty looked best while going to get pampered. While Kristin Cavallari and Lauren Conrad can’t decide to get along, they did both decide to opt for a casual, laid-back look while traipsing to their fave salons.

Kristin’s knit dress looked cute and comfy and her fedora and fringe bag were super stylish, while Lauren’s wide stripes and denim cut-off shorts accessorized with dark aviators and a camel bag screamed, ‘cool Cali-girl!’. But neither of these reality girls were able to take down queen of the reality scene, Kim Kardashian. Winning by a land-slide with 71% of your votes, it’s obvious that you guys loved Kim’s style of nonchalant chic. Sleek skinny jeans look sophisticated when paired with a relaxed nude blazer and sky-high platform sandals add sex appeal.

Beauty Pick Me Up – Natural Beauty

imageYou’re already gorgeous, girl. Sure, it’s fun to try out all these vibrant colors that are so popular right now on the beauty scene, and false lashes and other add-ons really do wonders for a flirty or sensual look. But there’s something to be said for a girl with natural beauty. Save the fluttery lashes and sparkly liner for a hot night out, and go for a clean and pretty face for every day activities.

The trick to applying make-up and having it look barely there, but still providing ample coverage is to play up your natural features. Soft black and dark brown eyeliners help enhance peepers, as do flake-free mascaras and eyeshadows in a nude or natural palette (think sheer golds and chocolate browns). A pale pink lip and cheek is a great way to let your pout pop and to contour the face without being obvious and keeps the ‘au naturelle’ appeal. So put your best and most naturally beautiful face forward and click on our slideshow to see some of our favorite ‘au naturelle’ beauty picks!

TGIF Fashion!

imageThis content series post is brought to you by Nordstrom

Friday means you’ve almost made it to the weekend and casual Friday means you won’t even have to go home and change before hitting happy hour! While the rest of the week is tailored for tailor-made, Friday (at most office spaces) means you can loosen it up a tad and express a little bit of your own personal style.

One of the biggest suggestions to making casual Fridays work, is to find balance between cool, comfort and professionalism i.e. leave the pajamas and the runways out of the boardroom!

The SHG – The Lighter Side Of Denim

imageThe Stylehive Guide

Denim and jeans have long been an American staple and these days, they’ve gone global and designer, with jeans going from weekend wear to night-out essentials! It wasn’t too long ago that tapered jeans and ankle grazing lengths were considered the epitome of dork-dom. Then we were told that low-rise and tapered jeans (re-named: the skinny leg) were not only ok, they were the cool denim cut and anything too flared or baggy was now the new geeks-ville.

But like the ever-swinging pendulum that fashion is, it looks like it’s swung back to the flared, light-wash, looser-fit look and it’s catching on like fire! Sure, darker washes are still edgy, skinny fits are still flattering and a lower-rise is still sexy, but for those who want to be truly stylish, lighter wash denims and flared or bootcut legs are the new ‘it’ factors when it comes to rocking our fave jeans.

Whether you’re going for a light-wash cigarette style, a faded-blue boyfriend cut or a fashionable flared leg, we’ve found some affordable faves to suit any denim need (just remember to steer clear of the super low rise!). Not a fan of denim pants? The new lighter wash is just as chic on a trendy denim shirt, a cropped vest or even a sweet skirt or dress. Click on the slideshow to see our picks!

Obsessing Over Fall’s Oxford Shoes

imageThe record breaking heat wave in Los Angeles recently has me daydreaming of fall weather; that lovely crisp chill in the air that turns the leaves and pumpkins orange. In my daydreams, I am strolling in a pumpkin patch, or a farmers market checking out the harvest’s goods. And always impeccably dressed, of course, in the best sweaters, scarves and oxford shoes the stores can offer and that I can’t currently touch with a 10 foot pole right now for fear of heatstroke. You may find it odd that in my daydreams, I am rocking a great pair of oxfords, rather than the latest and greatest boots, but for some reason, I’ve got oxfords on the brain! I love me some boots, and have a closet filled with them, but this year it is all about this menswear inspired, stylishly subtle shoe.

This borrowed-from-the-boys look has been co-opted for the girls, and these days comes in more than just your basic leather. I’ve been seeing them two-tone, patent, studded, floral, in unusual fabrications such as denim and I love them all! Depending on the style you choose, these trendy shoes can take you from day to night and look cute paired with all kinds of outfits.

Le sigh.

Until the days start getting cooler, I€™ll continue my fall-dreaming. Won’t you join me by clicking on the slideshow to see some fave oxford picks, perfect for the dreamers and those that are experiencing true autumn weather.
