Beauty Pick Me Up – Shiny, Healthy Hair!

imageNo matter what the hair trend is at the moment, shiny, healthy hair will always be in! It doesn’t matter if you’ve got a a shaggy pixie cut or a mane of long tresses, hair that shines is the perfect accessory to any ensemble.

In an effort to get the perfect coif, we often apply many products, chemicals and heat treatments to our hair, which weakens and dulls the cuticles. Take a break from the hair sprays, molding waxes, straighteners, hair dyes and blow dryers and take a look at our 5 easy tips on how to give your hair that healthy shine and bounce back! Click the slideshow to see some fave products!

Switch Up The Shampoo – You may already have the best salon-level shampoo and conditioner for your hair, but that’s not enough! By switching up your shampoo and conditioner, you don’t let your hair get accustomed to the same pH balance for too long, which can leave hair flat and dull. Every third hair wash, switch it up with another label!

Argan Oil – This Moroccan oil is the new not-so-secret secret to shiny and healthy hair! Towel dry hair and rub a pea sized amount in between hands and smooth through hair. Got longer locks? Try a dime sized amount! This amazing oil leaves hair smooth and shining and conditions naturally! Argan has multiple uses as a skin conditioner as well and ingesting it allows for the full benefits of it’s vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidant properties!

Deep Conditioning Treatment – Using a deep conditioning treatment in place of your regular conditioner once a week really adds shine! Hair masks and deep conditioners are meant to be left in for longer and penetrate to nourish dry locks.

Heat Protection Serum – While giving your a hair a break from heat treatments is a good idea, some of us just can’t step out of the house without a good blow out or straightening. To minimize damage and add a protective layer from the damaging heat, spray on a heat protective serum or spray first!

Change Your Diet – While there are many products out there that can make hair sleeker and shinier, there’s nothing that beats eating the right foods to help nourish hair from the inside out! Drinking lot of water is a must and other foods like salmon, nuts, seaweed and leafy greens make hair, skin and the body healthier overall!

Sweet Treats For Your Sweetie

imageTwo different bakeries are providing delectable Valentine treats this year exclusively through William-Sonoma!

The first comes from a bakery in Maine that uses fresh, local ingredients. They are offering Sweetie Pies, a dozen heart shaped moist red velvet cakes reminiscent of whoopie pies. The pies are filled with buttercream in chocolate, raspberry and vanilla. Each one is individually wrapped then packaged together in a ribbon-tied box.

The second offering comes from Two Hearts Bakery in San Francisco. They’ve hand created s’more ‘hugs’ and ‘kisses’. X and O shaped Graham crackers baked with a touch of wildflower honey and Saigon cinnamon are dipped in Guittard milk or dark couverture chocolate. A hand-cut marshmallow made with Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon vanilla is sandwiched in between. These decadent concoctions come 8 to a package (4 X’s and 4 O’s) in a gift box tied with a red ribbon.

Treat your sweetie to one of these sweet treats this Valentine’s Day!
