Halloween Costume Ideas For $20 Or Less!

imageSo unless you’ve been living under a rock, or have holed yourself up in a dark room, I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that it is pretty much Halloween. It’s this Saturday and maybe you’ve been thinking about finding something cool to go as or just finding any costume, really, so you can join in on the Halloween spirit and festivities. But what about that bank account? Halloween is still a great deal of fun for any age, but now that you understand the value of a dollar more than you did when you were five, you realize that blowing upwards of three figures for one night that you’ll remember through a haze is not that a great of an idea. Your rent is due soon, there’s that bill you really can’t put off anymore and the Holiday season is fast approaching as well. Have no fear (except for those ghosts and goblins that’ll be roaming around in a few days), because after doing extensive searching and bargaining hunting, I’ve found quite a few Halloween accessories that are easy on the pocketbook and, when added to clothing and accessories that you and your friends already have, make a great costume for cheap! Striped Tees And Accessories Make Looking Chic A Snap!

imageIf you took a peek inside my closet, you’d notice two main things: a stack of little/medium/big brown bags that I should probably hide, and an abundance of stripes– striped tees, striped cardigans, striped sweaters, and maybe even a striped scarf or two. Needless to say I’m convinced you can never really have too many striped pieces, and as far as versatile classics go, stripes are easily my favorite. Whether you go for an original nautical staple from Saint James or a contemporary update from Splendid, a well-fitting striped top is the easiest route to chic simplicity and really couldn’t be more effortless. If patterned tops aren’t really your thing, a striped handbag is equally stylish — an iconic hobo from Bendel’s is playful and luxurious to boot. Feeling adventurous? Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen To Design Juniors Line For JCPenney

imageIt’s no secret that everything the Olsen twins touch turns to gold, whether it’s a trend or a business endeavor (and they’ve proven themselves to be more than successful in the latter- just look to The Row and Elizabeth & James, plus their shoe and jewelry lines). Their latest move? They’ve signed a deal with JCPenney to design a juniors brand called Olsenboye. Clearly aimed at the younger crowd, the line will contain denim, tees, and other casual looks including shoes and bags, all priced between $20 and $50. It’ll be available in 50 JCPenney stores and online starting November 6th! Menswear-Inspired Trousers Are Sexy For Fall ’09

imageWhile I love all the options that women’s fashion brings, sometimes I wish it was just a little bit easier. On those cold and dark mornings I am so jealous of the guys who can just wake up and throw on some nice pressed trousers and crisp shirt and look sharp. Good thing menswear trousers are super chic for fall ’09, and these aren’t your basic work pants either. Keep your cuffed, wide-leg, crease-front pants in rotation, they’re perfect work basics but pants are going way beyond the basic this fall. To take the menswear pants from day to night, try experimenting with some luxe fabrics and fashion-forward shapes, like the cropped tapered trouser, one of fall’s hot silhouettes. They’re loose around the hips but skim the calf and show a little sexy skin at the ankle. No matter which way you go, please ladies, don’t steal them directly from the boys department. It’s all about the fit here, and men’s pants are cut to fit all our of lovely lady lumps.
