Summer’s Over, But You Can Still Wear Shorts!

imageThe weather has started to turn chilly these days and I’m super excited to be pulling my fun tights and leggings to pair with my tunic tops, skirts and dresses. But lately I’ve been wanting more winter wardrobe options than what I currently have. The solution is actually quite simple. Winter shorts (usually made of wool, tweed, or heavier cotton blends) are a fun way to bare your legs even during the colder months. While it’s still a little warm, you can wear them without anything underneath but once the winter chill takes over, then it’s time to start layering with tights or leggings. One of my favorites is the Wool Flannel Short from J.Crew. For something a little more appropriate for nighttime, I’ve been obsessed with the Silence & Noise Sequin Tap Short from Urban Outfitters. Take a look at my slideshow for more winter shorts!

imageAnother day, another week, and although events and situations may change, one thing remains the same. We’re all so busy, busy, busy! Planet retrograde is finally showing a slow-down in schedules and telling us to take a moment to breathe and relax. Comfy Cashmere Sweaters Without The Campy Christmas Prints

imageSure, cashmere is soft and luxurious — just the kind of warm-weather material we crave during the cold winter months. But for some reason, whenever I think of the idea of a cashmere sweater, I can’t help but be haunted by my childhood memories of unwrapping my Christmas gift from Grandma and finding (to my utter dismay) a chunky cable-knit creation with a dilapidated Christmas tree on its front. However, now that I’m old enough to appreciate (and prefer) clothing gifts in place of toys, I know that there’s more to cashmere than ugly holiday prints and Abercrombie & Fitch pull-overs with a sewn-on moose logo. Switch out your sweatshirt hoodie with a cashmere version from Free People that’s still casual but way more cozy. Or, if you’re not afraid to look festive, this embellished LaROK cardigan isn’t too kitschy, but it’s still snazzy enough for a low-key holiday party. For more ways to get comfy this season without looking like a Christmas card, watch the slideshow!

Zachary Pryor’s Unique Jewelry Is Love At First Sight

imageNew York artist Jesse Utt travels to various spaces to showcase a spunky and shameless collection of wall-hanging artwork — and makes jewelry-making look like child’s play. As attractive as his artwork is on canvas, it’s his Zachary Pryor accessories line that’s so beguiling, we’d never want to take off. His earrings and necklaces resemble a scrapbook collage of trunk collectibles that are a perfect way to add crafty edge to your style. Metal chains, color contrast and charms all lend a hand in shaping the tasteful trinkets that have found their way to the necks and wrists of art-loving A-listers like Mary-Kate Olsen and Avril Lavigne. Jesse, under the trade name Zachary Pryor (a name that covertly pays homage to his grandmother and plays off a name that he could’ve been donned at birth) has made wearing art — and making a statement — easy. While his past works feature canvas-mimicking illustrations, his most recent follow either a more industrial style that is loud and evocative, or a fierce, whimsical style with bright feathers. Catch some of the lust-worthy eye candy in this slideshow and fall in love with the originality of these essentially one-of-a-kind Zachary Pryor accessories!

Check Out PH8, The Sporty New Line From Bebe, In Stores Now!

imageTo be honest, I was never really a fan of Bebe Sport- my style has always been a little more running shorts, and a little less, err, rhinestone-encrusted stretch pants. But when I caught a glimpse of PH8, the line that’s set to replace Bebe Sport, I knew I’d be welcoming more then a few of the athletic-inspired pieces into my closet. The looks are meant to be layered over or worn as gym clothes, perfect for the girl who wants to go from yoga to a casual dinner date or simply hit the gym after work without the hassle of a rush hour outfit change. From racerback tanks and basic leggings to draped skirts and sequined pullovers, the line’s full of functional and carefree pieces that together create looks with a hint of Bebe-inspired glamour. The line’s already well-received, garnering an impressive share of attention from the likes of Katy Perry, Giuliana Rancic, and Emily Current and Meritt Elliott of Current/Elliott, who styled the PH8 lookbook. Priced from $19 to $139, it’s an affordable way to add a touch of confident, athletic appeal, even if you prefer trendy heels to tennis shoes. Hot In The Hive: American Fashion Cookbook: 100 Designers’ Best Recipes

imageWhile the fashion industry has a bad reputation for being food phobic, it’s amazing how well some of my favorite fashion designers can cook! The American Fashion Cookbook: 100 Designers’ Best Recipes is published with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) which means the proceeds will be helping American fashion designers. Learn how to make Isaac Mizrahi’s Mushroom Truffle Spaghetti, Cynthia Rowley’s truffle mac and cheese or Diane von Furstenberg’s Saturday night chicken. With an introduction by home and cooking maven (and former model) Martha Stewart and over 100 recipes from appetizers to desserts, your favorite designers can accompany you all the way from the closet to the kitchen! CollegeCandy Wishlist: ASOS Draped Dress

imageWhen you’re on a budget, you can’t spend your money on just anything. You need items that are versatile, timeless and just plain pretty. And this beautiful dress from ASOS is all that and more. It is short, yet it reveals just enough skin with its strapless design for hitting those clubs on Saturday night. Put on some sexy, strappy heels and you are ready to conquer the dance floor. When the party’s over, work this dress in a different way. Got a holiday party coming up? Slip it on with a pair of pumps and clutch. A nice family dinner to attend? Put a blazer over the top and you’r good to go. Wanna rock it out? Add a leather jacket, tights and a pair of ankle boots. Unlike most mini dresses, this ASOS design is anything but typical. I really love the contrast created by the light drape, especially the way it crosses the bust to the waistline and then back over again on the bottom. With this dress in your closet you’ll have the solution to every wardrobe dilemma. Whether it’s a birthday party or a wedding, this dress is the answer! Check out CollegeCandy for other holiday season wardrobe staples!

Leather Gloves Of All Lengths To Suit Anyone’s Winter Style!

imageIf you’ve been procrastinating on gift shopping and instead have been stocking up on your own winter wear (hey — a girl’s gotta keep warm), don’t forget to keep your digits protected from the cold too! For the wintry months ahead, leather is migrating from moto jackets to accessories and is starting to replace knits and cashmere in the realm of cozy hand-warmers. Fingerless gloves are all over the place (okay, so maybe they’re more for fun than function) but you can put your own spin on the trend with studs or chains. Or, for an updated take on Old Hollywood glamour, opt for a longer pair a la Audrey Hepburn (though hers weren’t luxe leather like these!). No matter what your style, you’re bound to find your perfect pair among this season’s varied selection! Browse through my favorites in the slideshow!

10 Trendy Trench Coats For Under $200!

imageWhen it comes to outerwear, trench coats are totally chic when you want to add a layer that’s sleek, unlike your other bulky winter coats and fur-lined down jackets. They may not be the warmest all-weather option, but trenches can still keep you toasty if you opt for a wool version, and with the help of a built-in belt you don’t need to worry about sacrificing your shape under a heap of fabric. Rain-friendly varieties can help you stay dry while you’re braving the frightful weather, and with the added convenience of detachable hood, you practically have two multi-purpose coats in one! Of course, the perfect trench can force you into some serious debt, but lucky for all you thrifty fashionistas, I’ve found a selection of ten different trenches for $200 or less! Check them out in the slideshow!
