Tread Lightly And Sling On A Small Satchel

imageBig purses have their moments: they’re great for beaches, books and boho looks. There are, however, more simplistic ways of toting around all your stuff — and, let’s face it, not look like a bag lady. Though our clutches are a great way to shed the extra pounds of bag, they’re not good for much more than a phone, credit card, and lip gloss. A small satchel is somewhere in between, is straight to the point about what it can fit, and because of its size, is cute in its own kiddie-sized travel tote kind of way. Click through a sampling of small satchels in this slideshow and find the perfect sized sack for all of your toting needs!

Translation: most stores are filled with a lot of things we really don’t want, and not nearly enough of things we actually do want. Be One With The Woodsmen And Warm Up In A Trapper Hat!

imageI’m not gonna lie — while the cozy cable knits and warm faux fur of a basic trendy trapper hat look too comfy to pass up, this winter’s hottest accessory isn’t necessarily for everyone. It takes a certain winter style to pull off this bundled-up woodsy look, especially since it can easily bring to mind childhood memories of getting wrapped up like a Christmas present every time you wanted to play outside. The key is to not take the trend too seriously — treat trapper hats like a casually thrown-on accessory, instead of a frostbite-killing survival tactic. When added to a full-on set of snow gear, the look is a little more functionally overboard than fashionable, but with just a thermal and a pair of rosy cheeks the look is cute without looking costume-y or childish. Browse through the slideshow for a festive bunch of my favorite trapper hats!

Bag Of The Week: The Kooba ‘Jagger’ Bag

imageI’m sure I’m not the only one by far, but I am guilty of having an extensive handbag collection of all different shapes and styles. In recent years, however, I have matured from snatching up any cute purse and taking it home, only to realize that it doesn’t actually match anything I own and have it just sit there until I obtain an outfit that goes with it. Instead, I have wised up and learned to invest in a well-made, high-quality piece that is versatile and convenient, as well as trendy but classic at the same time. That may seem like a lot to ask from one bag, but the ‘Jagger’ bag from the Kooba Holiday ’09 Collection easily delivers all those qualities. The soft leather, the subtly edgy zipper detail and the classic shape make the Kooba ‘Jagger’ Bag a must-have bag that works for so many occasions from work to play and back again. Plus, it comes in a variety of colors, meaning you can choose the best look for you, so make room for this pretty bag in your purse family!

What: the Kooba ‘Jagger’ Holiday ’09 Bag
Price: $595.00
Where to Buy: Kooba

Stylehive’s Stylescopes Help You Keep Your Cash In One Place With A Shiny New Wallet!

imageThanksgiving is this week, followed closely by the season of gift giving and package sending. The stars predict a little bit of chaos for us all, but that’s not hard to believe with all the planning that usually takes place this time of year. Holiday cheer and chaos can be fun-filled and festive, but it can also put a pretty big hole in the savings funds. Before you make a mad dash for the stores and lose yourself in a Christmas shopping debacle, treat yourself to something nice and practical! Star alignment says that we’re all going to be spending at least a little on others (especially uber-generous Pisces), but let’s not forget about our own needs and joys, either! A cute new wallet is just what you need to stylishly keep all your money in one place and is the perfect piece to bring along while shopping for friends and family. Click on the slideshow to see what the stars have decided is your winning wallet! And check out what the stars have to say about the perfect pocketbook for your mom or a best friend, too.

“Twilight” Madness: Which “New Moon” Merchandise Is Creepiest?

imageAt the risk of sounding super dorky, I’ll admit that I’ve read the Twilight series… more than once. And sure, if I had to pick, I guess I’d say I’m on Team Jacob, but I mean… I wouldn’t exactly call myself a Twi-hard. So what if I saw “New Moon” at midnight?! Alright, fine, I’m kind of a Twilighter… but I’m definitely not alone! After all, it’s hard not to succumb to the year’s ultimate guilty pleasure when you’re surrounded by it everywhere you look — and in light of the “New Moon” Westwood premiere last Monday, “fanpire” fever is undoubtedly in full effect if it hasn’t been already! T-shirts, jewelry, makeup… you can hardly go into your favorite store anymore without seeing something emblazoned with R-Pattz’s face on it. However, despite my borderline inappropriate crush on Taylor Lautner, I’m a firm believer that there are certain boundaries that need to be observed when it comes to obsessing. Sure, the very nature of the vampire-centric series is eerie in itself, but some Twilight toys and t-shirts take fangirl freakiness to a whole new level. I mean, what is the purpose of a life-size cardboard cutout? And no matter how badly you may want your own icy Edward Cullen to snuggle with, do you really need a duvet cover with his face on it? Vote below on what “New Moon” paraphernalia is the most ridiculous!

Jimmy Choo For H&M Collection Debuts For VIPs, And All Dignity Is Lost

imageOn the eve of the official Jimmy Choo for H&M collection debut, I made my way to the retailer’s flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York for a special pre-launch shopping event. Celebs, fashion professionals, and press made up the invitation list–par for the course at these shindigs. We’re generally a jaded lot (or, at least, pretend to be). Anna Wintour walks within two feet of you in the tents during Fashion Week? Don’t even blink (internally, though, you’re hyperventilating). So imagine my surprise when upon entering the red-carpeted doors, I spotted many of my brethren in a state of downright frenzy, squealing over stilettos and gleefully grabbing as many handbags as they were allowed. The store itself was tricked out with glamorous sapphire draping, an open bar, and gourmet h’or dourves, but all eyes were on the shoe section where even the guests had to wait our turn to have a go. Christian Siriano and Michelle Trachtenberg were just some of the stars spotted in the fray, and as I left the store, there were apparently folks getting ready to line up overnight for the opening on Saturday morning. The H&M designer collections are a phenomenon I love for the fun, boy band crazy-like moments they create, especially when they can bring out the fashion fanatic in many of my seemingly “over it” colleagues, moi included. And next up on H&M’s stellar collaboration roster? Sonia Rykiel, whose H&M lingerie collection launches December 5, with a spring collection debut to follow on February 10, 2010. Check out the slideshow for photos of some of your favorite celebs and the scene at the Jimmy Choo for H&M VIP shopping event!

Recession Chic: Cute Boots For $100 Or Less!

imageEvery woman, whether she admits it or not, has a shoe addiction. Stiletto pumps should have a home in every woman’s closet and strappy anythings add sex appeal to any outfit. The real power player in the woman’s shoe department, however, is the boot. Tall, heeled, slouchy or whatever the style, boots always make a statement when you put them on. Whether you’re trying to achieve casual comfort, add an edgy vibe, or be an all-out sex kitten, there’s a style of boot that will do it for you. With all the variety in boot fashion that is now available, it’s not a bad idea to invest in a quality pair or two to add to your shoe collection. Quality leather boots can be a little hard on the wallet and, while I’m not saying that they wouldn’t be worth it, maybe your bank roll just can’t quite handle a designer pair at the moment. That’s no excuse or reason to not join the latest shoe craze and rock some killer boots so click on the slideshow to see some favorite leather boots for $100 or less!

Vintage Fashionistas Savor Gray This Season!

imageWhen searching for vintage clothing online, it’s important that you use the right keywords to find what you want. And heaven forbid you’re looking for something gray, because well, there’s gray (the American spelling) and then there’s grey (the British spelling). Of course, since vintage clothing sellers on both sides of the pond spell this color both ways without any sensible rhyme or reason, the wise online vintage shopper knows to plug both spellings into their search engines. If you do, you’ll be rewarded with a smorgasbord of vintage treats in this classic, conservative neutral. Try substituting darker charcoal shades of gray for black. Or choose pale shades of gray to take the place of white. Morning, noon or night, for dresses, coats or evening gowns, gray is a fabulous wardrobe choice for a vintage fashionista.
