What Do You Think Of The New Britney Spears For Candie’s Ads?

The new Britney Spears for Candie’s ad campaign has just been released, and all excessive photoshopping aside, she’s looking good- if not a bit Barbie-like. I just have a feeling people won’t even really notice the shoes she’s wearing, which, along with the Candie’s collection, will be available exclusively at Kohl’s. The ad will appear in just one publication- Us Weekly– as a pull-out poster in the April 15th issue. The last time I saw a pull-out poster was in my copy of Twilight, and it honestly made me feel way old, but if you’re nostalgic for the “Baby One More Time” era I suggest swinging by the newsstand in a couple weeks! One more thing: is this not the safest way to have your photo appear in a tabloid? Smart girl.

Meet Shoe Designer Martha Davis, Stylehive’s Next Big Thing!

While I am proud to be a San Francisco native, I know it’s definitely not a fashion capital like New York or Paris. So my fashion spider sense definitely perked up when I heard about a local shoe designer making waves in the fashion scene. Originally from the East Coast, Martha Davis moved to San Francisco eight years ago for a job and never left. Looking to create something of her own after years of working in industrial design, Martha went to Milan where she enrolled in the Ars Sutoria program to learn everything about footwear. Lucky for me, I got a look of her current Spring 2009 shoe line and a preview of her upcoming Fall collection. Wearing a raw edged ruffle dress and mismatched shoes (from her line, of course!), Martha was a gracious host on the rooftop terrace of a posh hotel on the San Francisco waterfront. Everyone oohed and ahhed over the shoes and those with small enough feet got to try on the samples! Can you believe the shoes are made in the same Italian factory used by Chanel and Chloe? The leather is butter soft and even the tallest boots are generous enough to fit any calf shape without any zippers! By the way, every woman I asked wearing Martha’s shoes said they were super comfortable. In the Bay Area? Her shoes can be found in Metier in San Francisco and Deliciouz in Walnut Creek. For everyone else, Shopbop will be carrying her collection in June! Mark my words, Martha Davis is a name to watch out for. Click the slideshow for some droolworthy shoes.

Say Hi To Karmaloop’s Hottest High-Top Sneakers For Spring!

Blurring the lines between athletic wear and street wear, today€™s sneakers are a mere reflection of hip-hop couture. This season, my favorite trend is high-top sneakers. The illest sneakers are now available at Karmaloop.com, like the Reebok high-tops on our favorite Gossip Girl Leighton Meester. Brands are featuring new styles, sharp cuts, vibrant colors and ultimate comfort. With everything from leather uppers, velcro ankle straps, perforated and fold-over ankle panels to mesh lining, classic footwear lines are producing cutting-edge sneakers. Not only do your feet feel good, but your whole outfit is that much more enhanced by your footwear. Some of my top picks include the reptile shell toe warrior in turquoise by Alife, the suprano high in purple foil by Supra, and the attitude in white & green by Adidas. Take a look at the slideshow for more of my favorites, then check out the full collections at Karmaloop!

Blast From The Past: Doc Martens!

With stylephiles like Agyness Deyn, Daisy Lowe, and Amber Rose spotted stomping around in Doc Martens recently, could it be that the iconic brand is back? Apparently, the company itself seems to think so as they€™ve revamped their line to include not just the classic romper stompers for which they€™re so beloved, but also sandals, pumps, and boots that are quite contemporary-driven. Doc Martens, which began as the footwear of choice for British Punk heads and soon became a style staple of American Gen X-ers, have also updated their classic 8-eye boot beyond the basic dark colors- black, cherry red, hunter- to include royal blue, bubble gum pink, and€¦banana yellow? Hmmm. These are not your mother’s (or your own) Doc Martens, but let€™s take a look at the new offerings. Click the slideshow to see more!

Hot Collaboration: New Balance for Nine West

Nine West is known for their fabulous footwear styles available at incredibly affordable prices. Now, they’ve added fashion-forward sneakers into the mix as part of a collaboration with New Balance. Sneakers are becoming quite the “it” items this season and are great alternatives to classic staples like platforms and pumps. The New Balance for Nine West collection marks a fresh take on classic kicks with funky styles available in a range of shades that will add a super cool street-chic sensibility to any look. Some styles stay on the minimal side and can be worn with anything while others were designed to truly make a statement. I especially love the splashy styles, all of which are totally in line with Spring’s retro 80s trend. These terrific styles are also perfectly priced and retail for less than $100!

Fall Head Over Heels In Love With Nine West Sandals For Spring!

I love Nine West. Their shoes are amazingly adorable (for the most part), durable, well-made and – perhaps most important of all though I loathe to admit I need this in a shoe – comfortable. Nine West has done a great job of fusing style and comfort. These are shoes that can be worn to the office, and – if you choose the right ones – likely even worn to walk to and from work as well! They’re definitely functional for a night out on the town. That’s why I’ve had my finger on the pulse of West, and was ecstatic when their new line came out for spring: sandals and wedges and strappies, oh my! There are tons of options and this season they’ve gone a bit more structured with a lot of their sandals – wide heels, sturdier platforms, thicker straps. These are not dainty shoes, folks, and I love them! My favorites are the platforms with straps. These are an emerging trend right now and you can’t go wrong. They can be worn with jeans, skirts, office attire, sundresses and much more. So prepare for a fun summer and stock up on your Nine West! See more at TheFind.

Our Favorite Spring Sandals For Under $100!

Spring is almost here, meaning my toes are officially in defrost mode (okay, it’s not that cold here in SF, but work with me here) and that can only mean one thing- spring shoe shopping! To help ease the separation anxiety I’ll likely be feeling with regard to my beloved boots, I’ve done a fair bit of fake sandal shopping to help raise excitement for warmer weather, excuses for pedicures, and mornings not characterized by the super awkward process known as pulling on warm Wolford tights. Uh, spring couldn’t come any faster. But onto the shoes! Look for nude and cream tones as they’ll match with nearly everything, and some pairs will even carry you into the colder months- but who wants to talk about that. On the other hand (er.. foot) don’t be afraid of color! Bright shoes lend themselves wonderfully to spring’s neutral tones and are a great way to try bursts of color if you’re not all that keen on neon yellow in large doses. Click on the slideshow for the 10 pairs of sandals on my wishlist this spring! Oh, and they’re all under $100, so buying more than one pair is encouraged.
