Like Bread and Butter

Wood and steel just go together! The Composite Stool earns its name from the marriage of these two elements that form its simplistic yet stylish construction. Plasma cut 4mm mild steel is pressed into shape and powder coated to form the top, while sapele or silver beech wood is machined and assembled by hand to form the legs. The result is so sleek you’d never guess they were handmade in designer Andrew Cassels’ very own garage! Get em’ here!

AirChair

Inspired by the framework of the the very first experimental aircraft, the Air Chair’s triangular steel structure is at once reminiscent of flyers of the past and modernly minimal. Faceted planes compose the seat and back for an aerodynamic aesthetic that also excels in comfort. Even more interesting, every section of the design has also been proportioned to the “golden ratio” for aesthetic appeal.

Teeter Totter Twin Bench

The core of this seating design lies in its legs! The Twin Bench has a playful, interactive character… is simple and easy to assemble… and flat pack ready. All this and it’s composed of just 3 elements! Carefully placed cut-outs in the top make it possible for the interchangeable legs to be switched from the ends to the middle, transforming a standard bench into a seesaw for two!

Tangible Sounds of the City

One word best describes the latest design from Estudio Guto Requena – LOUD! The Noize Chair is the result of a sound experiment where recorded noise from the streets of the designer’s native São Paulo, Brazil were digitally applied to the form of a classic chair before being 3D printed. In a sense, the city’s voices and suburban noise are relived in both the design process and with every look at this creative concept! Check out the video to learn more about the process.

Total Babe of a Chair

Born out of love for illusion, the Bodice Rocker’s sexy shape reminds us of a shapely bust or derrière. The sculptural seat also performs a unique trick! With the slightest touch, it gently rocks back and pauses mid-air… almost as if it’s weightless, defying the pull of gravity. In this position, its true function is revealed as a body-conforming chaise lounge clad in comfy padded leather.

Sit and Feel the Burn!

The U-Stool’s signature “U” shape is functional in getting the user to work their abdomen and legs to balance the rocking seat. This healthier method of active-sitting actually makes it easier to sit for longer periods of time by keeping the user shifting, thereby reducing strain on the back and hips. The user might burn more energy while seated, but  the design’s eco-friendly construction and production process cut back on its own energy consumption! It’s even compostable at the end of its life cycle!

Two Takes on Modern Comfort

Michael Egan’s “Wings” and “Unfolded” sofas are cut from the same cloth, but each has its own unique identity. Both share the same ergonomic top portion, but their entirely different bases make one complex and the other quite simple. Unfolded’s layered plywood makes a great place to store books and magazines, while Wings’ bold continuation of the arms creates a unique floating effect. Which one suits you?!
