Reflective Clothing for the Modern Cyclist

In Los Angeles, it’s not uncommon to hear horror stories about cyclists in motor accidents, which is precisely why Angeleno designer Brett Clouser started this unique line of reflective cycling wear. Unlike standard neons, this minimalist jacket is savvy enough to wear out socially. It also collapses into a compact pouch, making it easy to store in your pocket. A reflective application on the jacket shines light directly back to its source, making it almost 400% more reflective and easier for drivers to see cyclists.

The Safety Dance

The Safety Ski Pole is one handy device that you will want, if you are an accident-prone skier. The ski pole is integrated with a GPS tracker that can be used in case of an emergency. Moreover the pole also beams out an SOS signal so that it can reflect on the snow slopes and attract attention. Anything to help distressed and lost skiers I tell ya!

Easy Moto Armour

As someone who was recently in a motorcycle accident, I can testify that wearing gear is CRUCIAL to a rider’s safety. It’s easy to carelessly avoid gearing up because it’s difficult, time consuming, & just plain uncomfortable. The SP3 focuses on resolving these problems by making the back protector as easy to put on as wearing a backpack, & also incorporates a neck stabilizer directly onto the helmet. Better yet, the helmet hooks on to the back protector so you can remove your helmet, drop it & move about.

The principal function of the device is to protect three essential parts of the body; the head, the neck and the back.
The head and the neck of the motorcyclists are protected by the helmet itself as well as a device located at the bottom of the helmet that restricts movements in the event of an accident or when the head/neck makes an excessive movement. The back is protected by the back protector that covers the cervical and middle vertebrae. After riding, the motorcyclist can store the helmet in a specialized compartment located on the back portion of the system.

Well Timed Closure

The Subway Signal Light is a digital sand timer that intuitively changes color from green, to amber to red, informing the passenger through passive visual clues, that the doors to the train are about to close. As far as subway safety is concerned, you can’t be too safe. Just the other day I saw a lady get caught between doors because she tried to rush through the doors at the last minute. Hopefully visual clues will help people understand better that green says go and red says STOP!

Colored Tiers Are Safer

The Discolor Tyre is a concept where the age and durability of the car tire is indicated and communicated through its color. Basically a tire is good for around 20,000 kilometers, and then its kinds worn out. With the Discolor Tyre, the tire takes on a bright orange hue once it is worn out and requires immediate replacement. It saves you the trouble of keeping a constant check and acts as a good warning system to keep your travels safe.

The Discolor Tyre is a 2012 iF Design Talents entry.
