ITRE Outdoor Lighting
Posted in: UncategorizedAlready known for their avant-garde approach to lighting, the Venice, Italy-based lighting company ITRE recently introduced a trio of dramatic outdoor fixtures. The new models—Sit-Up, Great JJ Outdoor and Kioto—use traditional glass techniques pioneered in Murano and not only wield state-of-the-art technology and materials but all three employ eco-friendly fluorescent light sources.
Sit-Up ($1,200), designed by Kostas Kyrtariotis, is a playful, over-sized design that doubles as a seating apparatus. Multiple units can be arranged to create various configurations, from circular designs to serpentine shapes, that literally transform into illuminated benches. The durable plastic composition makes it equally suitable for both indoors and out. Each unit measures about 44″ x 22″ x 18″ and has a fluorescent light source.
From Centro Stile design studio, the Great JJ Outdoor ($7,960) has exaggerated proportions based off its iconic indoor counterpart, lending a surreal quality. Highly adjustable armature stretches to almost 14 feet high and the aluminum diffuser rotates up to 105 °, measuring 23 ¼”h with a diameter of 22”. Its scale, along with a lacquered aluminum finish and industrial look, brings a theatrical element. The Great JJ Outdoor comes in matte black, matte white and matte light gray with an inside finish of either white lacquer in the white model or aluminum gray in the light gray and black models. The Great JJ takes a fluorescent 70 watt GX24q-6 socket.
Kioto ($4,180), a classic Andrea Crovato-designed wall and ceiling lamp, initially introduced for indoor use, is now wet-listed for installation outdoors. Constructed of gray lacquered aluminum with a transparent cast glass diffuser, the porthole-like sconce is available with either a fluorescent or LED option. It measures 4 3/8” in diameter and 2” in depth.
