What to Wear: Meeting His Parents!

imageYou’ve been with your guy for a while, and things are getting serious. His parents are coming to visit. He wants you to meet them. Try not to panic. You’re charming! Guy knows that you’ll wow them. Now, to decide what to wear! A few recommendations: wear something flattering, but not revealing. Don’t show too much cleavage or too much leg, but hey, work your assets all the same. Choose a classic style like Calvin Klein’s Laser Cut Ruffle Shirtdress. Something that will flatter your curves, but also says, hey I’m a good girl and I would make a great mother to your grandkids. If you’ve got a killer dress already, I recommend one pop of interest and color with your jewelry. Wearing something like Kenneth Jay Lane’s Garden Cuff is great because if all else fails, it’s a conversation piece. Check out my slideshow for lots of options to meet his parents!

Grad Gifts For Girls!

imageCongratulations! The high school crap is finally over– and it’s bittersweet. .There’s a parting of ways for a lot of you, an uncertainty about what you’re getting yourself into after a routine or home-style living, and definitely a sense of relief that you won’t have to carry around a hall pass again. Hats off to you, though, as we commemorate your maturity in personality and knowledge! These accomplishments certainly shouldn’t go without notice. A graduation gift should be something that inspires. Sure, any big electronic is going to be appreciated by the ‘rents, but a gift that goes past the expected can give the giftee a hopeful wish for the future. Something to help them pursue their dreams, or even just remind them of what a special gem they are in this big world are a great way to show your loved ones how proud of them you are. As for those of you who’ve just tossed your high school hats, these gifts are great for holding on to the memories you already cherish, as well as help you make more memories to last you the rest of your lives!

Graduation Dresses That Are Too Cute To Be Covered By Your Cap And Gown!

imageIf I had to pick one of the most unfashionable inventions ever, it’s the graduation gown. Forcing kids to wear them on their big special day just seems like a cruel and unusual tradition that will never die. Sure, it makes your entire class look uniform like a big army of ants or a school of fish (depending on what horrendous color of the rainbow you’re forced to don for the sake of school spirit), but it’s just not the cutest way to embark upon the next chapter of your life. The only way to somewhat make up for this tragically dowdy damper of Grad Day joy is to ensure that what you’re wearing underneath your gown is cute and festive enough to have you ready for the post-ceremony celebrations in one second flat (because that’s how quickly you’ll be disposing of that frumpy sheath)! Whether your style is fun and floral for a summery morning commencement and brunch to follow, done-up and dramatic for a momentous evening occasion and post-party, or casual-cool for your small artsy school, I’ve found plenty of graduation dresses that will help you start your summer right, diploma in hand (and won’t make you look even bulkier under that gown)! Check out the slideshow for some of my favorite commencement day frocks!

Pretty Things For Wedding Rings

imageYour most coveted matrimonial item needs a safe place to get it across the aisle from start to finish. It’s all in the hands of your very trustworthy four-old-nephew, so no worries, right? You’ll probably want to ease your mind a bit with a practical pillow, box, or some kind of protective cushion to help the little tyke deliver your precious goods. A classic ring bearer’s aid usually brings to mind a blanched-white square puff with a security ribbon fashioned into a simple bow, but if you’ve got something a bit more crafty in mind, there are more creative options to transport your symbols of everlasting love. Check out these soft picks to add a little flare to your wedding’s formal fineness.

Create Your Own “Love Story”-Themed Wedding

imageHow perfect would it be if you could turn your wedding memories into a hit-music video? Or, even better, the opposite– if you could turn your favorite music video into your wedding? Young country starlet Taylor Swift’s not even hitched but has already cast her vision for the perfect flashback to a beautiful summer air, Romeo and Juliet-style wedding in her ballad “Love Story.” Escape from reality with a wedding that makes you look and feel like classic royalty. Taylor’s wardrobe in the video is one-of-a-kind, but elements of her beautiful bodice can be found in dress styles that are true to Taylor’s true-love tastes. A gown identical to Taylor as Juliet’s would have to be custom-tailored from snapshot samples, but check out the slideshow to browse these “Love Story”-inspired wedlock wonders!

“One Life to Live” Prom Fashion Preview

imageThe hallways of Llanview High School are filled with excitement and anticipation as all the kids prepare for prom! This year’s event is not, unfortunately, entirely musical as it was a couple years back. However, we do get the Pussycat Dolls performing, so that’s some consolation. If there’s one thing we love about prom besides stolen kisses behind the bleachers, it’s gorgeous prom fashion! So we dialed up “One Life to Live” costume designer extraordinaire Susan Gammie to get some dish on what all the kids will be wearing on the big night. Susan says she’s most interested in how fashion “tells the story and how it reveals the character.” Click over to SoapNet for more style and entertainment stories!

Last-Minute Mother’s Day Deliveries To Keep You On Mom’s Good Side!

imageSo it’s Friday already and you’re kinda sorta giftless for Mother’s Day — which is in fact this Sunday, no matter how much you wish you could buy yourself another week to shop. If you’re close enough to your mama to see her on the big day, you know there’s no way she’ll let you into the house empty-handed, unless the mailman has already delivered the gift on your behalf, and a long-distance mom probably won’t be any more forgiving if the day passes her by with not so much as a flower in sight. It’s okay, you’re human, and it’s perfectly understandable for such an occasion to slip your mind, in my opinion… but I’m not the one you’ll have to beg to for forgiveness! But don’t fret yet, my fashionably forgetful friend — the ‘net has loads of thoughtful deliverable gifts that can fix your memory slip just in time (as in, before your mom replaces you as her favorite) as long as you act fast! With an array of edible treats like a set of hand-dipped strawberries that’s almost too cute to eat (almost) or an at-home spa kit gift basket that will make sure Mom feels like royalty on her special day, no one will suspect that such a timely, gorgeous gift was really a last-minute desperate effort to stay out of the doghouse! Take a look at the slideshow for some Mother’s Day deliveries that will make Mom feel special and save your behind in the process!
