State-of-the-art Scooter

The latest in a trend of fairing-clad scooters, the electric XQ’s semi-monocoque body does more than help aerodynamics. It offers sensible storage for the rider’s small belongings and cargo. It also houses the seat and steering column which automatically retract in OFF mode for both security and to save space. Rear-view microcams with smartphone syncing and solar panels for supplemental energy are just a few of its modern accessories. Check it out —>

Sixth Sense Motorcycle

The renowned Royal Enfield brand usually conjures thoughts of cafe racer, bullet-style bikes with retro aesthetics. Ditch what you know because the Royal Enfield Pioneer is anything but! Its futuristic styling unapologetically retains NONE of the Enfield’s classic styling… regardless, it’s a fresh look at the evolution of the e-motorcycle. Designed for new riders, its self-balancing system/autonomous riding mode give it a sort of “sixth sense” that helps train newbies and hone experienced rider’s skills.

BMW R90R – A Classic Revived

I have often felt that most of the present day motorcycles are over designed. The designers’ attempts at aggressive form language usually results in the rides ending up with a liberal dose of visual clutter and makes me crave to see the honest and clean design style of café racers back on the road. And exactly for this reason, transportation designer Kévin Biolluz’s reinterpretation of the iconic cafe racer BMW R90S on its 40th birthday is interesting. One of the fastest production bikes in 1973, the Daytona Orange Beemer was a classic design and a pioneer in several fronts including the first to feature front fairings as standard.

The redesign attempts to fuse the classic with the futuristic. The stance, the low slung handle, the seating, all implies a cafe racer, yet it is seamlessly integrated into the sharp body lines of the aggressively futuristic design language.

The clean looking engine block is an evolution of the current BMW boxer. The monoshock rear suspension is done using Gimbal’s head which makes use of a shear spring. A triple clamp helps to keep the front as aggressive, simple and thin as possible.

Modern Throwback Moto

In pure cafe racer style, the Monocasco pays homage to retro motorcycle designs, but with a modern compact electric motor in substitute of a twin petrol engine normally found in this style. Its combination of slim fairs, single tube headlight, and fat tires give it a late 60s racer vibe. Fast looking, but not aggressive, this fashionable bike is one that the ladies will love.

Not your mother’s moped.

Though it’s almost 130 years old, the Piaggio brand is renowned for transportation that’s just plain different. The Piaggio PAM expands on this with a partially enclosed structure filled with smart-features like calibrated seat adjustment, photovoltaic solar energy-harvesting material, a HUD windshield, GPS navigation and even safety airbags. Like Piaggio’s MP3 scooter, the PAM also uses 3 wheels for added traction and balance, but these are reversed from front to back for a sportier riding feel.

BMW Motorrad Gets Mean

Designer Frédéric Le Sciellour’s concept for a mid-weight, full-fairing BMW supersport is a step in the right direction for the brand who’s current models are functionally advanced but aesthetically stuck in the 80s. An under-belly exhaust, fender-less rear end, and more symmetrical shape give it a sleeker, sharper, more aggressive aesthetic. Not just for looks, the fairings are aerodynamically designed with grooves that direct cool air to the hottest parts of the bike’s engine while moving forward.

2-Wheels, No Tip!

Gyrobike is a twist on the electric scooter that utilizes mechanical energy storage and gyroscope technology that allows the rider to navigate in an entirely new way. The system uses the principle of reverse block connection with heavy turners operated by a single control lever. The driver adjusts the lever to the manipulate the scooters lean and turning. With the lever in a vertical position, the vehicle will stay upright, but when positioned to the left or right, the angle changes accordingly.
