Bird Feeder, Sofas And More…

Polish designer Jan Kochański showcased his studio projects to us and we simply loved his unique take on furniture and product design. I loved the simple yet artistically developed Fiu Fiu bird feeder and the MobiUse – mass use mobile chairs made from paper pulp. Hit the jump to experience some innovative and thought provoking projects.

Designer: Jan Kochański

Clip

Clip is simple, portable and foldable coffee table, made of bended steel tubes and oak wood. The project is combination of minimal structure and maximum functionality. The frame was inspired by a paper clip; table top can serve separately as a tray.

Radar

Radar is a visually attractive alternative for cloth dryers. It is constructed out of bended steel tubes and each part can be rotated separately.

Fiu Fiu

Fiu Fiu is a foldable bird feeder made of PP foil. It can be easily shipped in an A4 envelope and quickly assembled in few moves.

Spring

Spring is a bracelet available in two different sizes and colors (red, grey sparkle). Made with laser sintered nylon or alumide, it features a complex yet charming “spring” shape, suitable for both men and women.

MobiUse

MobiUse is an armchair designed for mass usage. It is made of paper pulp and can be used in and out doors.

Cloud

Cloud is light soft and sensitive and is in constant and slow motion, because of the hot air provided by hairdryer. Cloud is made of delicate foil. The project is about searching for minimal gestures that can define space, and looking for border between interior and exterior.

Knot

The Knot armchair is made of fiberglass rope and synthetic resin. The rope wrapped around solid shape creates chaotic and light structure.

Pufff

This design is a result of experiments with sheet materials. The armchair is formed out of two pieces of PP foam and the biggest challenge was to design a rigid structure out of a relatively soft material.

Cocoon

Cocoon is a hammock made of PP foam and synthetic fabric. The design can transform from open hanging bed into a zipped cozy cocoon.

Ergonomic Table For Your Laptop

It’s an age-old agenda, to have the perfect setup that allows you to work on the computer endlessly and yet maintain the correct posture. Time and again specialists insist and designers execute ideas that support an ergonomic table and chair, ideal for computer usage. Biuro is just that.
Biuro is an ergonomic desk for appropriate laptop use. It is meant to avoid musculoskeletal problems caused by a wrong posture. It allows the user to have a better position while working on this laptop, thanks to a tablet, which raises the height of the screen.

Something doesn’t seem right here….

… but that’s the intention! The Equilibrium collection by Andre Cruz has a simplistic, utilitarian aesthetic that is given a sense of lightness and clever character with oddly placed legs. The bulk of each design appears to be supported by just a tiny edge of each leg, creating a striking visual sensation, but in actuality it’s a hidden metal support that stabilizes each corner. The unique construction allows for interesting geometries and angular accents that contrast with the bare upper portions.

Louise Roe from Denmark

Copenhagen_louiseroe

Today's post shows again the importance of styling and photography for a brand … Louise Roe, a qualified clothes designer knows this all to well after having worked for many years in the home furnishing and interior design business. She sees fashion and interiors as one and they have become a lifestyle for her.

When the sisters from Basis Home send me an email about the Lousie Roe brand I was very much inspired by all the images. Perhaps the first thing you notice is the toal ambiance but when looking closer you see the beautiful fabrics and patterns Louise designed and uses for her collections.

Basis Home is welcoming this Danish brand to the Netherlands and I am sure you Bloesem readers from all over the world would like to know where and when Louise Roe is available in your country too…

Beautiful images below the break too … enjoy!

Sorri Chair, Wide Loads Welcome

I am LOVING the Sorri Lounge Chair. When I say wide loads welcome, I don’t mean that in a condescending way. I’m serious. I love a wide chair, especially when it gently cups my butt. Not to mention it makes logical sense since there’s enough room to sit my bag next to me instead of on the floor. Ladies, can I get an amen? If you want one, WEWOOD is taking it into production. The chair will also be on display at Maison & Objet from the 18-22nd in Paris.

Modern Easy Lounge Chair

Check out this Kickstarter project called the Suzak – a lounge chair available in multiple color combinations. I’m partial to the simple design which invites you to sit almost any way you want. The material is made of industrial spandex that’s ultra tough, yet pliable. Strong enough to be used outdoors without concern for UV damage. You can support the project with as little as a $1 but you’ll need to put in $99 to get a chair. I want it because it looks like something my dog could use but easy for me to clean.

Boring Chair Gets A Fabulous Makeover

Fashion’s purpose? My peers would tell me it’s about monetizing trends. My teachers would tell me it’s a clever tool that provides social commentary. Some proclaimed fashion to be art. Drawing some distinction between clothing which is utilitarian and fashion which is design, the common thread is change and designer Jung Eunyoung illustrates that so well with her steel mesh chair. Simply by changing its cover, the chair takes on a new persona, similar to how one changes clothes to project their moods, needs, and wants.

Decorating my living room

StringCabinet

I really felt like cleaning out some shelves and re-organise some things in our dining area. Perhaps the loss of my dad and all the sadness around it made me want to start fresh again … you recognise this feeling? Some people go out sporting or shopping I like to stay in my own home and find comfort in the things I cherish … so last Sunday while my boys were playing outside I gave myself some 'me' time .. while listening to some music I enjoyed moving my things around.

Bloesem_string_closeup

Usually I forget taking pictures but this time I thought let's share it with you my dear readers, you have been so supportive of me lately … so I hope you like my small decoration ideas.

I always keep things simple in my home, group things together and try to give proper attention to even the smallest object.                            [CONTINUE READING]

String_shelves_bloesem

Tin, copper and bras are my new favorites and luckily for me my mom had quite a collection and she was more than willing to pass them on to me. I like how the tinny things are grouped together in a more modern setting. It is probably the color that I like so much. And mixing old and new is I believe always a good idea.

I will mention some of the obeject you see in the pictures. The red bar stool is by Heidi Sebastian for established&sons. Rik and I bought it for our apartment in Singapore but with new tenants living their now we thought better to use it ourselves. I absolutely love the stool and just to let you know it sits very comfortably.

Tin

The shelves are by string from Sweden, but I guess you knew that already 🙂 … a little vintage vase by Tapio Wirkkalla, square robot prints by Vorstin, Italian cotton threads by Carta inc., a ceramic pencil box by Dick van Hoff, blue ceramic pot by inkypots and the rest are thrift store finds.

Art on the wall is by Dutch photographer Anna Tiedink. Some trays by fog linen on the marble table, facemaker by miller&goodman the luxe edition and of course a little picture off my dad.

Translucent Seclusion, Live in a Bubble

This is the second project from Swiss design group Micasa Lab that I’m in love with. The Cocoon 1 is a sit in, chill in, relax in, live in bubble with reconfigurable cushions to really personalize the space. I think it’s a genius idea. A retreat that simultaneously informs the world of your need for solitude while giving you full access to the world around you. Plus, this revives memories of that terrible excellent movie Bubble Boy about a man born without an immune system so he has to live inside a bubble. Good stuff.
