Hot In The Hive: Repetto x James Perse Flats

imageJames Perse and Repetto are both at the top of their respective games, so a collaboration between the two basically has to result in something wonderful. It’s kind of like when Brad and Angelina have babies, if you think about it. Anyway, these James Perse x Repetto ballet flats represent exactly what we love about each brand: the minimalist, California-chic sensibility of James Perse and the classic, legendary style of Repetto. The canvas ballet slippers are available in three neutral tones that will suit any spring ensemble, including a breezy denim color that was made to be worn with tanned legs and floaty dresses. True to Repetto’s roots, they’re handmade in France, and are available exclusively at JamesPerse.com and select JP boutiques.

Hot In The Hive: iPod Hoodie

imageDo you have a close relationship with your iPhone? Like really close? To the point that you practically treat it as if it’s your own child? Well, good news — now you can dress it up in mini clothes just like a baby with this iPod Hoodie from Fred Flare. The idea sounds completely ridiculous, but they’re actually a whole lot cuter (and less annoying) than trying to dress up your dog in printed sweaters. Available in 2 sizes to suit up just about any Nano, iPhone, or ancient brick-sized iPod circa 2002, this tiny techie hoodie keeps your favorite gadget safe and warm while you’re touting it all over town… and looks pretty stylish too. Just try to remember — while it might communicate and assist you like a person (or better) and now dresses like a person too… your iPhone is not alive. Technically.

Price: $18

Hot in the Hive: Second Base Demi Camisoles

imageI am a huge fan of layering and a simple camisole is always the foundation of my ensembles. The trouble with camisoles is that they can sometimes bunch or add bulk which is the last thing anyone needs right now, especially with that holiday heft still lingering. Enter Second Base demi-camisoles, my newest obsession! The demi style gives you all the benefits of a camisole without adding bulk and is perfect to wear under those low-cut tops. They also come in very handy for wrap dresses (it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get a normal cami to sit still under a wrap dress- I’ve been there!) and under tops that are open at the sides or dip low (this look is my personal favorite and allows you to show just a touch of skin keeping it sexy but in a very effortless sort of way). They come in a variety of shades, from basic to bold, and are literally the softest things ever! Buy one, or buy a bunch; they’re only $29 each! See more at shopsecondbase.com.

Price: $29 to $31

Hot In The Hive: Opening Ceremony Knit Ear Warmer

imageI don’t know about you, but some of my favorite pieces of clothing while I was growing up were the cool knits my grandmother and various aunts made for me. Any of my requests were instantly fulfilled. Rainbow striped beanie? Check. Fuzzy hot pink sweater? Check. These days it’s difficult to wear hand knit items yet still feel like a somewhat responsible adult. Designer and knitting expert Siu Yin Chau has a whole line of handmade knit wear for which I’d gladly trade in my scratchy wool sweaters. One of my favorites is her ear warmers found at Opening Ceremony! Unlike traditional ear muffs that have a hard frame, this version lies flat until you tie it around your head and over your ears. Now I can stuff this into the smallest of purses and still stay warm when I go outside!

Hot In The Hive: Cynthia Rowley Heart Rings Set

imageValentine’s Day is next month, but I don’t think you need the excuse of the lovey-dovey holiday to rock these super-cute heart rings by Cynthia Rowley. They come in a set of three — one copper, one sterling silver, and one vermeil — so you can choose to either keep them all to yourself for stacking… or dole them out as gifts to your various significant others (or best friends, whatever). Personally, the 3-in-1 set appeals to me as a gal who’s always losing her jewelry — I’ll still have two more when I drop one of them down the drain! And I wonder why no one ever buys me stuff from Tiffany’s…

Price: $90 for set of 3

Hot In The Hive: Bourjois “Rendez-vous a Paris” Wet/Dry Eyeshadow

imageI never did cash in on the opportunity to study abroad during my college years like some of my friends did, and though I regret it, that doesn’t mean I can’t be in love with all things reminiscent of France from afar — macarons, the French New Wave, these cute Paris-inspired eyeshadow pots from Bourjois… just to name a few! The “Rendez-vous a Paris” collection features a series of their popular wet/dry shadows (sweep on dry over lids, or apply with a wet brush for a bolder pigment), except these come in a cute painted Paris-themed pot, featuring the Eiffel Tower, the Paris Opera, and other landmarks I’ve only visited in the movies. And since they’re limited edition, you know they’ll be snatched up fast! Of course, in that case you could just opt for Bourjois’ regular wet/dry shadows — but these Parisian ones are so much cuter!

Price: $14 each

Hot In The Hive: Lippmann Collection Marquee Moon Nail Color

imageOne of the major trends coming at us for the new year is standout nails. Get on board with Lippmann Collections’ “Marquee Moon” nail color and add some sophisticated sparkle to your fingers! The space-age silver is perfect for 2010 and the polish is high-resistance and high-protection so you don’t have to worry about chips or cracks. You may feel like you’ve outgrown glittery polishes, but this nail lacquer offers just the right amount of sparkle. If the gunmetal and sparkles aren’t enough to make you want a bottle, you may not be able to resist the next little bit of info regarding this hot nail collection. Deborah Lippmann, the creator of Lippmann Collections, collaborated with the Rodarte sisters to create Marquee Moon!

Hot In The Hive: Studded Whale Ring

imageThis rhinestone studded whale ring encompasses all that we want in a piece of jewelry. The shine and sparkle will undoubtedly catch your eyes while the whale shape is quite charming and delightful, with just the right amount of whimsical, offbeat appeal. Despite its large size, the ring is a versatile enough to wear daily (as a signature quirky piece, perhaps?), or as the focal piece at a more dressy affair. Let’s not forget about the amazing deal this ring really is too! At less than $12.00, we had to do a few double takes to make sure we weren’t reading the price incorrectly!

Hot In The Hive: Luxeed Rainbow LED Keyboard

imageIf you have a tendency to spill coffee or soda on your computer keyboard (RIP to my first college laptop), then make sure you steer clear of this rainbow light-up version from Luxeed, because it’s much too pretty to ruin! USB-powered and illuminated by 430 LEDs, this keyboard can be customized to change color, flash in patterns, or light up at each press of an individual key. It comes in white, which has a flashier, more transparent look, and black, which is slightly more subtle yet just as stylish with its opaque keys and rainbow lettering. At $139.99-149.99, it’s quite a costly aesthetic investment if you’re not already in the market for a separate add-on keyboard, but I have to say I’m tempted regardless! Of course, first I’d have to kick the habit of drinking coffee while composing e-mails…

Price: $139.99 for black, $149.99 for white

Hot In The Hive: Unearthen Digital Gold Watch in Gold

imageCall me old fashioned, but I love wearing watches and seeing other people wear watches too! Whether it’s either a digital watch with calculator straight from the 80s or even a vintage men’s Rolex, I love them all. I thought I’ve seen them all, but of course, I was proven totally wrong when I saw an incredible jewelry line called Unearthen. They take one-of-a-kind vintage watches and add a custom-cut pyramid crystal on top. The best part is that the wind up watches still work. I’m not sure if you’ll still be able to read time over that huge rock, but you’ll sure look fabulous. Whether you wear it alone or stack it with other metal bangles, this showstopper will go with the most casual or dressy outfits.
