Typo/Graphic Posters

Stellar work from a ton of different designers (there’s some really great stuff on there!), but what’s with the website!? I’m not sure if it’s intentionally random or just buggy. At the very least, it forces you to peruse (not awesome if you’re trying to go back to something specific). These two posters are from via grafik and josh vanover (left-to-right).

5.5 Designers

Four designers working in Paris to ’sublimate the ordinary’ with ‘humor and simplicity’…

The first project I’ve included, ‘Rangement Maslow’, should ring a bell for anyone who’s ever taken a first year psych class. Inspired by Maslow’s hierarchy, this piece is designed to accommodate the varying sizes of our storage needs. The drawers can be moved into any configuration, making it totally customizable. The simplicity of it’s execution is wonderful, the streamlined structures that result from different drawer variations make this piece playfully unique.

The second project is called ‘3 Sets’, designed for Roland Garros’ annual tournament. Below is one of the stools being corded by Laurent Lucas, followed by the full set (showing the ball-tube-inspired decanter and scoreboard). The stools are a brilliant concept, I wonder how comfortable they are?

This project (’Unscannable Books‘) was created in response to, “the destructive method of book scanning…

…advocated by Google Books”. Jasmine’s site has some great work up on it, mainly focused on typography and small-run publications. Via It’s Nice That

There is a big debate (as I’m sure many of you know) about Google’s book scanning initiative. This is both because it’s rumored that they ruin each book in the process, as well as infringe upon copyright laws. Click here to read about the scanning technology Google is allegedly using to preserve the books they’re processing. Be sure to read the comments.
