Sustainable Cultivation Units

Hakan Gürsu’s Living Pots are a series of thoughtfully produced planters for the urban gardener who’s conscious of their carbon footprint.  Composed of 100% recyclable and reused wood and metal, they make use of lumber scraps that would otherwise be thrown out or burned after truncation. With a minimal number of parts, each unit is flat-pack ready and easy to assemble. Better yet, they can be nested to create vertical gardens where space is limited. Check out the vid to see how it’s done —>

On My Windowsill

… lies a lot of dust, especially in-between the rail tracks for the window. I do my best to keep the dust and debris away, however the combination of vacuuming the track and brushing out the debris doesn’t help. I also require a low maintenance herb to grow on my windowsill, and this is how I will tackle both these aspects.

Cleaner Robot by Chae Young Sam & Jeong Ming Yeong is this beautifully designed vacuum with brush that dedicatedly cleans up the rail tracks of the sliding windows. The robotic device even features a built-in UV lamp for sterilization and recharges using solar power.

Plan’t – Solar Energy Garden by Min Soon Kim is a hydroponic cultivating machine that can be used in apartments to grow vegetables right on your window. The device harnesses solar energy and then uses it to power a mild LED mood lamp for the night and also for the times when the sun doesn’t shine so much for the plant.

Plant Doctor

The Plant Doctor is not just any device that detects the health of your plant. It is sophisticated with tech and ensures you get the exact readings via the highly integrated micro-controller technology. The usual suspects of soil moisture, nutrition content etc. are charted easily. What makes the device even more practical is that it self powers using the electrolyte in the soil for energy. The highly sensitive soil nutrient sensor analyzes the soil and process the information.

A quick scan of the leaf with the device will also reveal information regarding the plant’s health. Very awesome!

TV Garden

The Teracrea TV isn’t your average flatscreen- in fact, there’s no screen at all! It’s a modern vase (also not your average vase) that can be hung on a wall to host plants, flowers or other greenery to bring a natural dimension into the home. LED accent lighting at the top of the minimal frame highlights the mounted garden and provides ambience to any room.

Boskke Sky Planters Now in Clear

If you haven’t yet been turned on to the Boskke Sky Planters, let me shed some light. See what I did there? Shed some light? Plants? Photosynthesis? Anywho – the original Sky Planters allowed any keen gardener short on space to literally hang all their plants. Now it’s available in clear; perfectly suited for plants with roots designed for sun exposure like orchids. It’s also interesting because you can kind of see how it all works. So deceptively simple and beautiful. Currently available in small and medium sizes. Gots to get me some.

Glass Roots

With colorful layers and an almost chem-lab aesthetic, the Roots series of vases are a clever twist on the classic tiered flower vase. The decorative objects, composed of blown borosilicate glass, can be used in two directions: one as a single vase for large bouquets or for grouped flowers that cascade down the side. You can own it here!

Sweet Side Of Gardening

The Sweet Pot is an innovative plant pot design where the bottom basin acts as a growth patch for extra grass. Essentially the design takes care of excessive watering and drainage at the same time. More like the extra water acts like a feed for the grass patch at the bottom, hence no drains required. The Sweet Slide is a tool that aids watering the plant comfortably. Super cute and super efficient!
