Although this is the only thing on her website, this shot from Yale MFA student Tara Kelton is pretty amazing.

Recession Design UPDATE

On the weekend I heard from Recession Design, who’s apparently a collective in Milan. This furniture collection was presented during the Milan Design Week in April. Thanks so much for the follow-up, the stuff looks really interesting.

“RECESSION DESIGN is an event-provocation on the theme of “DO IT YOURSELF DESIGN” that ironically (to a certain extent) presents a way of “designing” that goes beyond current trends and places the object
in its essential form and function at the forefront. Recession Design is a collection of objects created using everyday DIY products that are processed and assembled using common utensils and accessories.”

“Clouds” are innovative, colorful, soft fabric DIY “tiles” – basically like adult lego, invented by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and presented at Milan Design Week 09. Every company should have an all-age “play room” of these.

Herman Lee

He’s a young designer that recently moved back to Hong Kong from Toronto. Lots of interesting work up on his Behance page, as well as on his flickr. I particularly like the ‘Make Something Cool Every Day’ stuff (not the first to do this, but it’s still a good practice).

Resn

This is a New Zealand based web company that I came across a couple weeks ago, and their work just keeps popping up all over the place. Definitely have a look at their site (different, to say the least), and make sure you play around with the 26000 Vodka one (mind blowing).

Telegramme

Telegramme is a collaboration that snowballed in to a fully fuctional studio. Working via the postal service with Christopher in Bristol and Robert based in Cornwall, they developed a creative partnership thanks to a mutual love of music, art and the receiving of post.

Now in London, illustrators & designers Christopher and Robert draw, design, screen print, make patterns, are computer geeks, obsess over music, drink too much tea, are 1/2 dyslexic, collect stamps, post letters, raid skips and are mixing ink most of the time so finding a moment to write a snappy and profound manifesto was quite the task.”

Socio Design

They’re a London based design firm that just released a new website. They did the whole thing in house, pretty impressive, and the work looks great. It’s nice to see the whole screen used like this to show off client work. Thanks to Socio Design for the link.
