A’ Design Awards & Competition is for designers, innovators and companies that want the world and their peers to acknowledge their designer brilliance. The awards offers intense publicity to award winning designs. One of the missions of the awards is to bring together designers, companies and the press. You can participate in categories as diverse as Furniture, Packaging, Lighting, Digital and Electronic Devices, Energy Products and Home Appliance Designs amongst others.

Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with Frame Publishers to give readers the chance to win one of five books released to coincide with Dutch designer Marcel Wanders’ retrospective exhibition at Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum.
The Marcel Wanders: Pinned Up book has been published to accompany the exhibition of the same name celebrating 25 years of Wanders‘ career, which opened at the Stedelijk Museum on 1 February.
Projects highlighted in the exhibition such as the 1996 Knotted Chair are detailed in the compendium, along with essays about Wanders’ work and his impact on the design world.
The book also includes a list of all the products, interiors, art direction projects and other designs completed by Wanders since his student days.
Designed and published by Frame, the 224-page volume is available in both Dutch and English.

Strap on your boots – in this case, I should say your creative spirit and head straight to The A’ Design Award and Competition. It is one of the worlds’ most prestigious design accolades that bring together architects, designers, artists, companies and media members. The A’ Design Competition is all about the best designs worldwide and their sole aim is to provide them publicity, fame, credibility and recognition through international press coverage and exhibitions.
The pot of gold at the end of the Coveted A’ Design Prize includes the annual hardcover yearbook publication, the 3D printed metal award trophy, design excellence certificate, press release preparation and distribution, winners’ logo, PR tools, winners’ exhibition and gala-night participation as well as translation of award winning works to 20+ languages and communication to thousands of entries. Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with publishers Summit to give readers the chance to win a book full of projects by design duo GamFratesi.
This is GamFratesi offers an insight into the design and creation of furniture, products and installations by the studio set up in Copenhagen by Danish designer Stine Gam and Italian designer Enrico Fratesi.
Written by authors Daniel Golling and Gustaf Kjellin, the book provides a detailed account of the pair’s designs, projects and processes since their debut at the Greenhouse emerging talent section of Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2007.
GamFratesi returned to the fair as Guest of Honour this year and the making of the studio’s installation of petal-shaped mobiles for the event is also recorded in the publication.
The development of other work including a little storage unit modelled on a traditional sewing box and a trolley with enormous wheels is documented through sketches, studio photographs, plus images of the finished pieces.
The hardback book was launched by Summit during last week’s Stockholm Design Week.

IDEA 2014 is in full swing and the regular entry period ends on Feb. 14! Yes, you have a date with destiny. Winners receive prestige, bragging rights and international media coverage, moreover don’t wait any longer—finish up your entries, and submit them before entry fees increase. Want to know some sure-fire ways to win this year? Hit the jump, cause I’ve got some handy tips for you inside.
First things first, here are the upcoming deadlines:
Tell a story – Bring your design to life by clearly explaining why the project was taken on in the first place – what is its purpose and why it’s a better solution/product than other designs.
Keep it short – Tell a concise story. It is a challenge to condense all the thinking behind your design project, so focus on the key points that are most thought provoking and insightful to your unique approach.
Know your competition – If there are similar products in the market (or possibly the competition) address how yours is different in the experience of, or the benefits to, the end user.
Make it visual – In your supporting PDF document, be sure to include as many unique product images as possible; different angles, examples of the product’s use and anything that will help the jurors experience the product during the initial online judging round.
