Marion Cotillard Proves Looks Can Kill With The Lady Dior Bag By Her Side

imageMove over, Audrey Tautou for Chanel — couture cinema is a hot trend in the advertising world, and Marion Cotillard (along with her covetable collection of Dior accessories) is the new face of these fashionable mini-films. Reunited with La Vie en Rose director Olivier Dahan, the dynamic duo seeks to make movie magic not for the sake of Oscar glory this time around, but for dramatizing Dior’s Lady Dior collection with a series of four mysteriously chic Film Noir-inspired installments. The first mini-film, “Lady Noire” includes all the best aspects of a good film noir flick from the muted colors to its fashionable femme fatale and slew of ridiculously well-dressed thugs — in fact, I have to admit I spent more time checking out the killer designer loot than attempting to follow its sly storyline. Check out the trailer below, then watch the full mini-film at the official Lady Dior site to get hooked on the four-part saga. If you’re really intrigued, you can even follow Lady Dior on Twitter for clues on cracking the case and news on the next upcoming installments!

Anna Wintour, Coco Rocha, Or Iman: Who Stole The Show At The American Ballet Theater Spring Gala?

imageAny type of award show or gala or red carpet event is exciting. The flashbulbs and the paparazzi, the celebrities and of course, the main event itself! But, we all know the most appealing and fun part of these functions: Who is wearing what? The American Ballet Theater held its 69th Annual Spring Gala on May, 18th and dozens of celebrities and famous names and faces came out in their most elegant floor-sweeping gowns to help celebrate the event. Held at the Metropolitan Opera House, a steady stream of celebrities and beauties sashayed past photographers and showed off their beautiful gowns. Anna Wintour showed her fashion roots in an ankle-length gown with origami pleating details and an elegant mottled pattern that showed off her impressive figure. Coco Rocha stunned in a bright, ocean blue, off-the-shoulder ruffled number that contrasted beautifully with her fiery hair and porcelain skin. Iman showed who was top model in an eye-catching, one-shouldered ball gown in peridot green, playing up her skin’s gorgeous tone. Which style-savvy fashionista do you think stole the spotlight? Celebs Hit Up The Cannes Film Festival For A Star-Studded Stylish Vacay

imageThe Cannes Film Festival, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious celebrations of cinema, isn’t just a film major’s dream getaway. Aside from taking place in an unbelievably gorgeous resort town that alone could lure even the most distracted and unappreciative movie-goer, the festival is the go-to event for everyone who’s anyone in the film industry for networking, premiere-hopping, and just plain lounging in resort style. This year’s festival, its 62nd edition, began on the 13th with Disney’s new 3D film “Up” and lured out film execs, Oscar winners, musicians, and socialites alike from their Hollywood haven (not to mention from destinations all over the world). Since its kick-off, the festival has been proceeding on with more buzzed-about unreleased, independent, and overseas films — from Jim Carrey’s “A Christmas Carol” to Pedro Almodovar’s “Broken Embraces” — with many more much-anticipated masterpieces packed in through its closing day, the 24th. While it seems the stars, including Eva Longoria, Tilda Swinton, and even Paris Hilton (but then again, what event doesn’t she squeeze herself into?), are spending more time stomping the red carpet than basking by the beach, but no matter which screening or luncheon they’re whisked off to next, they’re always looking their vacation best, whether buttoned-up or bikini clad. Take a look at the slideshow for some of the stylish celebs spotted at Cannes! Photo credit: PR Photos

Influential International Style: Victoria Beckham

imageVictoria Beckham, or Posh, as she was first introduced to us as a Spice Girl, has been renowned for her fabulous fashion sense since the mid 1990’s, overshadowing her music and acting career (Spice World, anyone?). She’s worked the catwalk for Cavalli, and has been the spokeswoman for Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs, not to mention starting a very sucessful limited-edition denim line, VB Rocks, for Rock & Republic. Last year, her full line debuted during New York Fashion Week to much critical, not to mention commercial success. As for her fashion sense, Beckham has a few golden rules, and recommends dressing “virginal sexy.” As the sky-high-heel and minidress proponent said to The Independent last year, “It’s great to make a statement now and again, but try and stick to a few classic guidelines. I always think if you’re revealing lots of cleavage, you should have your legs hidden. Or if you want to show some leg, wear a jumper dress on top. Don’t let it all hang out; it’s much sexier to leave a little to the imagination.” Check out my slideshow for ways to adapt Posh’s style to your wardrobe! Photo credit: PR Photos

Kris Vs. Adam: Which American Idol Finalist Dresses Like A Winner?

imageAfter weeks of country-wide auditions (both impressive and depressing), loads of judge tension and quarreling, months of neck-to-neck competitive performances, a whole dictionary’s worth of nonsensical new “Paula-isms,” and style makeovers galore, it’s crazy to think that it all comes down to just one night of singing their hearts out and a few billion text message votes. One of the finalists is about to have his life changed forever (as if that hasn’t already happened to both of them already… or as if actually being crowed the “winner” really seals one’s fate — just ask Taylor Hicks). On one end, we have the guy-next-door acoustic Guitar Hero, Kris Allen, and on the other, a bad-ass Broadway-gone-rebel rocker Adam Lambert — an unlikely duo who have just about as much in common as night and day. And aside from their vastly divergent musical tastes and sounds, their Glam Squad makeovers on the show’s later rounds have them exhibiting their contrasting vibes not only in their musical stylings, but in their distinctly different fashion sense as well. Kris Allen’s casual button-down shirts and blazers pair perfectly with his pared down acoustic accompaniments and raw yet soulful voice, while Adam Lambert’s flashing lights and illuminating staircase entrances just wouldn’t be complete without an equally dramatic rockstar look. We know this isn’t “Fashion Idol,” but hey — how many times have you heard Simon snarl, “I absolutely loathe what you’re wearing”? Face it — posh performance ensembles are vital, whether or not it’s really about the singing, so check out the slideshow for a week-by-week comparison of the last two standing, then vote below on whose performance outfits outdid his competitor’s! Talitha Getty’s Style Lives On Through Boho-Inspired Pieces

imageThe adage “live fast, die young” applies to few people quite as well as it does Talitha Getty. A victim of her own excessive lifestyle, the Dutch-descended Getty died in 1971 at age 30 of a drug overdose, yet left behind a style legacy that’s become a cultural touchstone: designers as disparate as Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Michael Kors, and Christian Dior are among the many who’ve cited Getty’s signature Marrakesh-meets-mod fashions as inspiration for various collections. Gamine, almond-eyed, and possessed of a confident style that drew on the twin influences of the Moroccan souks she frequented and the London-based Swinging ’60s crowd she ran with, Getty was immortalized in Patrick Lichfield’s iconic photograph of her and husband John Paul Getty, Jr., on the rooftop of their infamous home in Morocco dubbed “The Pleasure Palace.” The image captured not just the beautifully tragic air that surrounded the Gettys, but also Talitha’s groundbreaking boho-chic aesthetic. Flowing caftans, mounds of costume jewelry, fur-trimmed mod dresses, filmy silk scarves, and gauzy harem pants were some of the hallmarks of her repertoire but, more than that, it was her laissez-faire, creative approach to blending style genres that prompted designers like Yves Saint Laurent to declare, “When I knew Talitha Getty my vision completely changed.” Getty’s seemingly direct fashion descendants include Jade Jagger, Nicole Richie, and Kelly Killoren Bensimon, the latter having proclaimed her admiration of Getty openly. Talitha Getty’s casual-elegant style is perfect for the coming summer months, and I’ve put together a slideshow to show you how to achieve it– check it out.

Margi Kent: “The Rock N’ Roll Doctor” Debuts Her New Collection

imageMargi Kent may not be a household name in your neighborhood just yet, unless your circle is comprised of A-list Hollywood and music personalities. Serving as a fashion designer and personal stylist for clients such as Meryl Streep, Demi Moore, Mariah Carey, Kim Cattrall, Teri Hatcher, Neil Diamond and the late Beatle George Harrison, Margi Kent is announcing her re-entry into the high-end retail market this fall. Her first collection in the late 70s brought contracts from both George Harrison and Fleetwood Mac leading to a partnership with the legendary Stevie Nicks. Kent helped define the much-imitated ethereal and romantic style of rock legend and is once again reunited with her on Fleetwood Mac’s 2009 World Tour. All her work with these rock gods led to GQ magazine naming her the “The Rock N’ Roll Doctor.” With all these celeb clients, she needed to offer them more than just the usual off-the-rack so she created one of kind pieces for her clients. Now the items once available only to the A-list are available to all of us too. The new high-end collection is comprised of daytime separates as well as some cocktail attire that stay true to her 70s and 80s rock roots. But where she really excels is in evening and bridal. Creating unique, conceptual pieces inspired by sculpture and architecture. Check out the slideshow to preview the collection.
