Surveillance Cameras Birthday

Lil’bitty Light Sensor

Access to a good light meter can make or a break a photo, but the designs are often bulky, archaic in user-friendliness, and expensive. The Lumu light meter is reduced to the size of the round sensor, eliminating the need for a separate handheld device. Instead, it works with your smartphone using a dedicated app for taking luminance measurements with a spectral response sensor that works like the human eye. Why not, since you already have your phone with you?!

There is no darkness too dark and no light too bright which Lumu can’t measure!  It’s not just about getting your measurement right… Lumu’s app enables the light meter to use all the cool features smartphones already have. By saving it to a cloud you are able to track your progress. Save all the data about the moment you shoot, including: location, voice record, note, picture, photo parameters, and many more. The app is made to support your creative process, not to stand in your way.

Record and Relive Your Entire Life!

The problem with our fancy gadgets and social media is that it’s now easier than ever to get lost in documenting experiences rather than just experiencing them! While you’re clicking the record button, life is passing you by! This far-out video recording concept, the Nikon LIN, aims to capture life’s experiences without distraction, allowing the user to live freely and relive the experience later in 3D. How?! With a flying camera that floats above your head and wearable glasses cam that together see everything you see! DO WANT!

The system actually consists of two elements- the first is the flying cam that captures 360 degree views in 3D, and the other is a wearable pin-cam that records experiences from the user’s perspective.

3D Pentax

Although they may be sight impaired, the blind have heightened intuitiveness and imagination. To help them ‘see’ the bountiful beauty around them, this concept camera helps print three-dimensional images of whatever it captures. With features like adjusting the depth of the shot and its range, it offers an engaging and virtual experience. An idea worth exploring, what do you think Pentax?

Digital camera concept by Jared Mankelow

This concept for a digital camera would let users look through a hole right in the middle of the ring of sensors, rather than framing their shot on a screen or through a viewfinder (+ movie).

Digital camera concept by Jared Mankelow

The design was a response to a challenge set by technology and science website BBC Future, who asked Jared Mankelow, senior product designer at Conran & Partners, to re-imagine an everyday item.

He came up with a Post-it note-sized camera that would have a hole in it for users to look through when they’re taking a picture.

Traditionally a camera’s viewfinder would be above its sensor, but in Mankelov’s design the hole itself acts as the viewfinder, with multiple sensors forming a ring around the eye.

“The ultimate goal is to take a photo of what you see. What we’ve done is punch a big aperture through the camera’s centre to connect the photographer with what’s in front of them,” explained Mankelow.

Inspired by an old SLR camera, he also decided to do without a digital screen and instead control the device manually with buttons and wheels. A ring flash around the hole would also make it suitable for close-up photography.

We previously featured an eye-tracking camera controlled by blinking and squinting and a wearable camera that decides which moments of your life are worth photographing – see all cameras.

Other technology we’ve published lately includes headsets that allow their wearer to adjust their sight and hearing as they would with a TV and a cuckoo clock that announces new Twitter messages – see all technology on Dezeen.

iPicture With iLens

As far as Apple is concerned there are many ‘what ifs’ that we all would like them to answer. Example, what if Apple made a watch, what if Apple made a camera? The answer to the latter is the iLens; an imaginable innovation that is conceived as a mirror-less interchangeable lens camera for enthusiastic photographers. So if you are dangling between an amateur and professional photographer, this camera is for you!

Concept explanation:

Dual lens system on the iLens provides you with an option to click with the 50mm prime lens on the main device. Magnetically attachable zoom and telephoto lens give you more dynamic photography options. The magnetically attachable lens sits on top of the primary device lens, which is the 50mm prime lens. The lens and the device communicate to each other via NFC Standard. Gesture sensitive lens casing provide with lens zoom and focus manipulation. Also, an integrated ring type flash unit around the lens casing avoids any shadow cast by the lens. This makes the iLens a powerful camera with a full size image sensor that is genuinely pocket-able. The cubical design for the lens casing, instead of the traditional and a much familiar cylindrical design, was taken into consideration for ease of storage. As DSLR lens do roll away, if handled carelessly. Unlike a DSLR, the image sensor is sealed behind the 50mm prime lens, so there is no chance of sensor dust damage during lens changes. A scratch resistant UV filter tops the lens, so there is no need for a lens cap.
