Bag of the Week – Anais Bag

imageIt can be hard to add fun, punchy colors to your wardrobe (trust us! we know! – black is a mainstay in our closets). So instead of forcing yourself to wear a watermelon-colored top or a bright blue dress, why not step up the color with a lovely purse? The Anais bag is a soft, sea green color with blue undertones and with it’s unique embroidery from top to bottom, it makes a statement on its own. Plus, it matches with black … or any other colors you want to wear today. And FYI, no one will be looking at your outfit anyway, not when you’re carrying this bag!

CH Editions: Rickshaw

Cool Hunting teams up with Rickshaw for this special CH Edition messenger bag and iPad case
ched-rick6.jpg

Exceptionally durable, Rickshaw waterproof bags are designed specifically for the active urban dweller. The San Francisco-based brand not only keeps us impressed with their ability to make long-lasting, thoughtfully designed bags, but also their commitment to sustainability supersedes most environmentally-conscious labels. For example, Rickshaw produces their Zero Messenger bag using domestically sourced materials, recyclable nylon and designs it around the cutting process to reduce material waste.

ched-rick2.jpg ched-rick1.jpg

We like this bag so much that for our collection of Cool Hunting collaborations we worked with Rickshaw to design a customized CH Edition. A stylishly functional messenger bag, our version features a “Cool Hunting Green” interior, waterproof X-pac black exterior, a detachable zippered inside pocket and extra compartments under the flap for all of your daily essentials and gear.

What’s more, we produced a limited-edition iPad case too, also featuring a fetching green interior.

Those in NYC can pick the bag ($150) and iPad Case ($30) up at our holiday Cool Hunting for Gap pop up shop or through our

Bag of the Week – Alexander Wang Darcy Slouchy Hobo

imageOften times, when we choose to splurge on a fabulous handbag, we go for the safest color. The most versatile, the one that allows you to say, ‘I can wear with anything.’ Usually, that means black. Black is beautiful, timeless and classic, but it’s black and probably similar to so many of the other purses you already have in your repertoire. Why not step outside the box this season and get super spendy on something slightly more eye-catching?

The Alexander Wang Darcy Slouchy Hobo in Mustard is the perfect piece. In a creamy chartreuse, this pebbled leather beauty is still as versatile as it’s basic black counter-part. It’s sure to add a pop of color to all the dark hues you’ve filled your closet with. Big and roomy with an over-the-shoulder strap, the hobo bag is embellished with brass hardware and etched over-sized studs at the bottom. So go ahead and get a little color crazy! You’ll find yourself using this more than you think!

Bag of the Week – Fold and Buckle Bag

imageToday you did your part in saving the world by first recycling your old issues of Vogue. Then you changed your light bulbs to eco-friendly, energy-efficient ones in the entire house (especially over the bathroom mirror so you can get ready each day). For lunch, you even made sure to eat only organic vegetables. Ahh. It sure feels good. The only challenge now is, how do you continue your good deeds for Mother Earth, while still remaining fashionable? Easy! Get yourself some organic, vegan clothes and accessories.

A good place to start is with this Fold and Buckle Bag. Made completely of vegan materials with a fold-over flap and multiple zip-closures, you’re sure to look cute, while assuring the world is a better place to live!

Bag of the Week – Fossil ‘Lizette’ Messenger Bag

imageIsn’t it amazing how much stuff we think we need to keep with us while we’re out and about? Lets see, there’s your makeup (a girl can never have too many glosses!), your phone, maybe even your iPad. Oh, and lets not forget that pair of flats that you keep in your bag … just in case you have to walk around. Now if you could only find a bag that could carry all of your belongings, but still look sophisticated and cool.

Ah ha … but there is. Specifically this bag – the Lizette Messenger. Made with a combination of leather and nylon, it fits just about everything you need, while still looking professional.

Bag of the Week – Hammitt Los Angeles ‘Westwood’ Satchel

imageEvery Monday evening, we turn our attention to Gossip Girl so we can swoon over Chuck Bass and, of course, to see the fabulous clothes, shoes and accessories the ladies wear. And sometimes we pay attention to the actual storyline. Maybe. The latest accessory to catch our attention? The Hammitt Los Angeles Westwood Satchel that Jessica Szohr’s character has carried around.

This leopard-printed bag has Italian suede lining, double shoulder straps and gold-plated embellishments that bring out our sexy chic side. It’s fun and flirty to carry around and fits just about everything you need to have with you (we really mean it when we say everything). And while the price might make a small dent in your bank account, we think it’s well worth it.

Bag of the Week- Rebecca Minkoff Kerry Pouch

imageMuch like most fashionistas, Rebecca Minkoff’s ‘Kerry’ Pouch is a study in paradox – constructed out of ladylike, butter-soft pebbled leather, but finished with tough girl hardware and metallic foil. The dual sides to this bag make it the perfect accessory for whatever look might suit your mood at any given moment. This bag is classy when paired with a little black dress, or tough if paired with a leather motorcycle jacket and jeans, or even boho and eclectic if paired with a printed maxi dress and jean jacket! It’s difficult to think of an outfit this bag wouldn’t look great with! We can’t get enough of pieces that are multidimensional and give us more bang for our buck, and Minkoff’s pouch – at the same time chic, tough and funky – certainly fits the bill!

Bag of the Week – Patricia Nash ‘Barcellona’ Saddle Bag

imageWhen ‘The City’ star, Whitney Port, was spotted carrying around an amazing ombre-colored leather bag around New York City, we had to find out where she got it. Turns out, it came from leather purse designer, Patricia Nash’s Fall 2010 collection. All bags are 100% Italian leather, come in various treatments like the dip-dye that Port chose, and are hand-tooled.

The ‘Barcellona’ Saddle Bag also comes in a brown, vintage-looking leather and vegetable tan – and while we love the color selection, we’re even more impressed by the price of these bags – any well constructed, gorgeous leather bag for under $200 is truly a treasure. Use it to carry around your every day belongings or strap it on during a stroll through the flea market – you’ll look laid back, yet stylish without trying too hard.
