A Cabbie-less Cab

Self-driving cars are now a reality with companies like Google finding success in their driverless programs. We often associate the idea with how it affects us and our personal vehicles, but the question remains as to what it means for public transportation. The BOT concept is one glimpse into how autonomous mass transit of the future might look… and it’s freakin’ adorable! Check out the vid to see why it took home 1st place in the 2014 Michelin Design Challenge!

EV for Equality

For years, cars have been retrofit with systems that allow disabled individuals to drive, but never before has an entire car been adapted from the ground up for those with mobile disabilities. The first of its kind, the EQUAL concept extends the compact car experience to disabled individuals in an easy-to-use, stylish vehicle that blurs the lines between what is and isn’t possible. Check out the inspirational video after the jump!

Cycling With illume

The illume is a bicycle that combines a simple bike design with advanced technology. To overcome the problems of riding at night, the design merges the indicator, brake and headlights into the frame in a way that it affords a safer ride. A lithium-ion battery and an actuator that transforms kinetic energy to electrical energy power the lighting system that is integrated into the frame.

Crafted from aluminum and carbon fiber, ‘illume’ provides complete suspension with a suitable form.

Mouthwatering Maserati

Maserati is the quintessential Italian sports tourer legend, so trying to perfect what many believe is perfection seems like a daunting task. But that’s precisely what Alexander Imnadze seems to have done with his stab at the trident brand: the Bora. It’s forward thinking for today’s Maserati, but a realistic, if not recommended, step in the right direction for their future design language. We’re only getting a taste of the exterior here, but we already like it more than the GranTurismo!

Balancing Act

While most vehicles operate on 2 or more wheels, the Infinitlar concept vehicle IS a wheel! The autonomous, hydrogen powered vehicle is an extraordinary vision of future personal transportation we could be using 30 years from now. It aims to provide users in densely populated urban areas the creature comforts of home while they travel. It’s more like a gyroscopically stabilized “room on wheels” that delivers you from point A to point B so you can focus on other things like work or relaxing!

Love This Solar Bike!

Ele is a solar bicycle with solar panels on its wheels that rotate 30 degrees on both sides, to face toward sun. This is to absorb as much sun-power that it can. This hybrid bike can be charged via electricity and the sun. It works in 3 modes though, muscle power, Semi- electric: electricity helps the user to ride easier and faster. Lastly, The Electric: here it functions completely like an electrical bicycle.

The Shape of Water

As hydrogen is aggressively explored as a fuel for passenger vehicles, the need to create customer acceptance is equally as important as maximizing fuel cell performance. The Renault Moister concept vehicle focuses on both aspects with its unique form that takes inspiration from the very element that powers it! Water’s fluid quality is reflected in its hull, giving it natural aerodynamics and appeal.

The Joy of Biking

Flexi-Bike poses a challenge to design thinkers and engineers, but in a very good and creative way. Sporting an informative LED display, the bike is quite whimsical in its style and approach. I am not sure how feasible this design is, but for sure it is thought provoking and bound to bring about a healthy debate. So what are you waiting for… bring it on….let me know your thoughts; yay or nay?
