New York Fashion Week F/W 2010: Richard Chai

imageWhile vibrant colors and saturated shades are having their moment, Richard Chai brought it back to industrial chic for Fall/ Winter 2010. Think edgy grunge meets uptown chic with contrasting layers and varying fabrics swathed in a nonchalantly stylish way. A color palette of soft and deep greys and blacks were subtly interjected with muted olive greens and dusky dark blues while sheer, fluid ruffles and drapes were layered over unique basics. Styles featured anything from wool jackets and blazers to flowing dresses and tops, all over sized. Monochromatic layered basics that may well have been stolen from the boyfriend’s closet were worn in a conservative manner, and fitted corset designs were paired with looser fitting, sleeved garments. A juxtaposition of styles, with knit arm warmers complimenting thick, luxe cropped furs all done in grey and dark tones, summed up this relaxed but structured hobo-chic collection.
