New York Fashion Week F/W 2010: Lorick

imageFormer model and current ghost designer for Gossip Girl’s Eleanor Waldorf, Abigail Lorick presented her Fall 2010 collection on Valentine’s Day morning and it was hard not to fall in love all over again with the Lorick Lady. Taking inspiration from the Prohibition Era, the 15 looks were ladylike without being prissy. The models took turns standing and sitting on a long platform while onlookers surveyed the sight. A recurring theme was the mix of silk spatter-printed blouses, skirts, or dresses with tweed outerwear. Bold statement jewelry by Subversive, metallic brocade, and lurex tights made for a shiny statement. One of my favorite looks was a gauzy overdress over a gold silk dress with a long tweed coat. All topped with fantasical and dramatic headpieces, the Lorick Lady is always ready to be the well-deserved center of attention. Hairstyles varied but every model’s hair was teased to give maximum volume. To complete the look, nails were a bright neon orange (aptly called Williamsburg by nail experts Dashing Diva) and doll-like makeup all done by the Temptu airbrush system. Take a look at my slideshow to see the looks!
