New York Fashion Week F/W 2010: Jenni Kayne

imageLA-based designer Jenni Kayne proved with her Fall/Winter 2010 collection that you don’t need a parade of sequins and feathers to put on a stand-out show. Featuring a series of utility coats and riding pants, Kayne turned to her country girl roots to create a clearly equestrian-influenced look but with a modern Gossip Girl edge (sans the frilly bow headbands). While she mainly featured a muted color palette save for occasional pops of purple and saffron, she managed to give the collection a sophisticated city-girl feel with trendy updates like emphasized shoulders and fall-friendly ombre patterns. The carefully-constructed looks were given a more youthful “undone” vibe with the model’s soft waves and makeup that alternated between flushed cheeks and bright orange lips.
