New York Fashion Week F/W 2010: Alexander Wang
Posted in: UncategorizedEvery fashion week, there are standout designers whose artful renditions of past and present trends undoubtedly set the course for the upcoming season. For more than a few seasons now, Alexander Wang has been one such designer. His fall/winter collection was decidedly more refined than in previous seasons, but rebellious all the same. Pinstripes and suiting details added professionalism to Wang’s signature cutout pieces and cropped silhouettes. Re-imagined basics in crushed velvet and chenille lent a certain softness to an otherwise angular collection, which was limited to a palette of black, grey, camel, and the occasional burst of cranberry or rusted jewel tones. Sleek, combed-over hair and last night’s eye makeup solidified the no-fuss attitude we’ve come to expect since Wang emerged on the fashion scene.
