Following on from his 2007 project, Works In Brass (which featured on the front cover and in the Showcase section of our March 2007 issue), artist and graphic designer Jonathan Ellery‘s new show, entitled Ellery’s Theory of Neo-conservative Creationism, features a new set of imagery etched into the surface of large brass tablets…

Of his new work (which is currently showing at The Wapping Project until November 29) Ellery writes, “The Neo-conservatives aren’t very keen on the Big Bang scientists, the Big Bang scientists aren’t very keen on the Creationists, the Creationists aren’t very keen on Darwin, Darwin’s not too happy with the Catholics and the Catholics don’t seem to be too happy with anyone.” 

The brass artworks (each made from machining solid brass in an edition of three) are each spotlit from above, causing golden reflections to appear on the concrete floor of the exhibition space.
