Statistics show that a number of accidents happen due to the difference of radius between inner wheels and the outer wheels, when a heavy-duty truck is turning. To help negotiate the turn, an infrared ray system with sensors, called the Safety Line, is installed on both sides of the truck. This line can detect the status of the turn and alerts pedestrians or other vehicles in the danger zone of the turn.

The sensors also alerts the truck driver and the people who are too close to the truck.

La marque Canadian Tire, spécialisée dans les batteries de voitures, a voulu montrer à quel point leurs produits pouvaient résister au froid. Le résultat donne cette superbe collaboration avec Iceculture, proposant une voiture de glace pouvant rouler. Un résultat bluffant à découvrir en images dans la suite.

The Trignal is a self-charging LED Light that is fitted to a truck’s wheel as a hubcap. It not only glows at night, giving other motorists fair warning of the truck’s presence on the road but also visually communicates its speed. If the truck is moving at a safe pace then the wheels glow a demure green. If the driver is being rash and tardy then it glows a bright red.

The hubcaps may not make sense on well-lit highways of the West, but I know for a fact the highways of many Asian countries can do with this hub-light system. It would probably save many lives.
