Swim Safe App

Everyone loves the beach, especially kids… but parents know that it can be just as dangerous as it is fun! The Harvey Swim Harness app combination now lets parents rest assure that their little ones will be safe playing in the surf. The child’s smart-harness relays GPS and heart rate/breathing vitals to the system which is accessible via parents’ smartphones. Every child wearing a harness is visible to anyone viewing the app, so other parents are alerted anytime a nearby child is in danger to ensure they have the maximum chance of rescue.

The only time fake can be fashionable!

The Impetus leg prosthetic gives sports-minded amputees not only the capability to play sports again, but to boost their confidence while doing so. 3D printed sections on the design can be interchanged and created precisely for the wearer’s individual taste and style or to carry uniform colors. Designed and shaped to bipedal physics and proportions, it gives amputees ability and aesthetics on the same level as non-amputee players.

Surf the Streets!

DESKA Board’s CitySurf concept brings the thrill of extreme sports like snowboarding and surfing to the streets! It’s hard to compare to anything else because it’s seriously unique. On one hand, it rides like a skateboard with a similar stance and low clearance, but features a hand brake, 3 larger wheels, and a flexible belt on which the rider stands. On the other, it’s akin to a windsurf board with its sail used to propel it and control direction.

Print-n-Board

Introducing…… the world’s first 3D printed twin-tip skateboard! This early example of future recreational production was formed in 3 sections joined with connector pins for additional strength and durability. It’s not quite ready to shred the stairs, but it’s a great beginners board with lots of possibilities for cool, custom 3D graphics and shapes. Check out the video to see the entire production process!

Ignore Mom! Play with your food!

Pixelate is a Guitar-Hero-style eating game in which players compete in a one-minute showdown to see who can eat the most food in the correct order. (Yes, fo’ real!) A digital interface built into a custom dining table shows players which foods to eat and when, while the game detects whether they’ve eaten the correct food by measuring the food’s resistance on the fork. Pixelate gameifies the act of eating, challenging players to consider whether they think before they eat, or eat before they think! Video after the jump!

Lean, Mean, Muscle Machine

At a glance, this wild bike concept looks more like a sculpture… maybe even something out of the Body Worlds Exhibit! Drawing from our very own anatomy, Zapfina takes inspiration from the relationship between bones, ligaments, and muscles, translating their connection to a design language fit for 2-wheels. The Z shaped frame was formed like a joint to absorb shock and protect moving components like the chain and gears. All it needs is a little human muscle!
