Another Adapter For The Blind!

Yes, its yet another socket fixture, but there is a lot of innovative factors in the Blind Adapter. The extension is designed to fit with existing electrical outlets and has an annular magnetic electrode so that the plug stays fixed onto the socket. Convenient Braille tags allow one to identify the appliance being plugged in, just to be double sure!

Blind Adapter is a 2014 iF Design Concept entry.

Magnetic Wooden Float Table

La fisica classica applicata al design. Questi cubi in legno magnetici sono disposti in modo da stare perfettamente allineati ed equidistanti tra loro formando all’occorrenza supporti di varie dimensioni. Idea sviluppata da RockPaperRobot.

Magnetic Dumbbell

Looking for a variation in your exercise routine? How about the O2 Magnetic Dumbbell, one that allows you to do many different exercises thanks to the embedded electromagnets. One of the biggest advantages that these dumbbells possess is that thanks to their compact size and magnetism, they are easily transportable. They adjust to all kinds of training routines as we can simply switch the polarity of electromagnets and get going.

Features

  • The strength of these electromagnets can be set by adjusting the level of electric power according to the work out intensity wanted by the user.
  • It is no longer necessary to carry different regular dumbbells for ten different work out levels, instead only one magnetic dumbbell will always meet the current needs of different training intensity levels.
  • By integrating the push-pull power of the embedded electromagnets, users are no longer bound to the local gym.
  • The display indicates 8-circled bars which each represents an additional weight of 3kg.
  • The user can conveniently choose the right training weight ranging from 3kg to 24kg at a glance.
  • The user can follow the repetitions of each training-set as they are indicated on the display in the middle of the device.

Georgi Tushev

Magnetized paintings expose eerie abstractions

Georgi-Tushev-3.jpg

Bulgarian artist Georgi Tushev creates magnetic landscapes, his forms simultaneously recalling nebulous cells and galactic moonscapes to strike a precarious balance between painting and sculptural art. With a body of work that ranges from pixelated paintings of vintage porn stills to portraits of Victorian-style rock stars, Tushev now presents “Ace of Spades“, a collection of new work at the Fitzroy Gallery in SoHo that explores the exotic landscapes of his signature look.

Georgi-Tushev-5.jpg

Tushev begins by taping the perimeter of his canvas to create a kind of sealed holding tank into which he pours oil paint with a high concetration of iron before exposing the black soup to a high-powered magnet. After the paint smokes and settles, bizarre formations settle on the canvas. The result is a combination of skillful artistic control and sheer chance, leaving circular fields of monochromatic topography.

For his works on paper, the artist likewise magnetizes watercolor paint, allowing the forces to separate his material into pure blacks, grays and whites. Concentric rings come together to create spectral forms which seem to reveal ghostly portraits, protean nuclei and terrestrial craters within the arrangement of pigment on canvas.

“Ace of Spades is on view at the Fitzroy Gallery through 13 July 2012. See Tushev at work in this video, and find more images from the exhibition in our slideshow
