Breaking The iPhone Addiction

The only way to break your iPhone addiction is lean towards gadgets that don’t disappoint! For example the Plumage Concept Phone is a good way to wean you off the apple and enrich your mindscape with something more innovative. Love the ideation and the sleek design, and of course the built-in protective cover / keyboard! Slick!

Expected iPhone 6

Is designer Heo Leo onto something? Not sure, but his analysis of recent redesigns by Apple has some weight to it. No wonder his iPhone 6 concept looks predictably surreal. Good job Leo!

Another Nokia Phablet

It’s raining Nokia concepts these day, and it only makes me happy! The good thing about this Nokia Lumia 1025 Phablet is that it is designed based on the leaks and plausible rumours. This concept features a 6 inch screen (1920 x 1152px – 15:9), is 8mm thin and with much horse power!

iPhone 5S – more @ less

I recently read about how Tim Cook is feeling the heat about innovation from his Directors, so maybe this concept iPhone 5S will help. It proposes changing the home button to a camera, which can also act as a fingerprint scanner with a software support. What you can do is then assign your most used app a finger and just swipe it over the front camera (even when the phone is locked) and activate that app.

For example, get to your emails by simply swiping your index finger over the front camera. The back camera can be used for page scrolling – read your tweets with just one hand! What I really find interesting is the elimination of the 3.5 earphone jack and using the lightning connector adapter spot. The concept also shortens the height of iPhone 5S from 123.83 mm to 108 mm.

Some really forward thinking ideas that maybe Ive and his team can use!

Apple iPhone 6, Really!

The new Apple commercial has drawn a lot of flack for its insensitive portrayal of interaction between people and its products. For a twisted moment, the focus has shifted from the human experience to the gadget experience. The disconnect of emotions is creepy and alarming! Close on heels is the news that a new iPhone may be out in September, so till that time let’s absorb this new take on the Jesus-phone! Apple iPhone 6, Really!

Retro Brick Phone

If we imagine a world without Smartphones, then it’s easy to picture this Just 5 Brick Phone by Art Lebedev Studio as a must-have. However, we do live in the world of Technicolor so a large-key, monochromatic graphics-display phone sounds a bit off. Or does it? Specs like retractable antenna, radio, alarm clock, flashlight, calculator, calendar, handheld meter, only one game – “Race” and mapping are nostalgic. The winner of course is the one-week battery power. Will you trade this for your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy?

A Flex Phone Would Be the Best Phone

The concept of smart-watches is hot right now, and even though there are a lot of designs floating around, none have kept us from thinking “yeah… but you still need a phone.” The Limbo, however, is quite different. It seems designer Jeabyun Yeon has discovered the missing link between our transition from handheld smartphones to smart-watches. Design-wise, the idea wasn’t to stray away from anything that might be remotely phone-like, but instead to merge the benefits of both. Why choose one when you can have both?!

Backup Powered iPhone Frame

Love the Juice up concept by Francois Rybarczyk, a simple yet functional design that rescues you from situations where your Smartphone battery is dying on you and you have no easy access to a power point. Juice up, is a work around for power sharing; the frame features a cable which can transfer battery life from one phone to another.

Juice up is still at a concept stage and needs some electrical engineering, to be viable.

Simply The iPhone 5S

Back curve, totally flat, a slight curve…three different forms have been explored; so what can we expect from Jony Ive and his band of designers? Don’t know! What we do know that this concept iPhone 5S is pretty awesome and catchy! Good enough to whet our appetite for more.

What do you think?

Windows 8 and Nokia’s Love

Its been a while since an awe-inspiring concept phone crossed our path, so humor me if you will, and have a peek at what the Nokia Lumia 1080 Concept Phone has to offer. The phone is inspired by the 5-inch plastic OLED display that features Full HD Resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). Future-proof, the concept believes in wearable technology hence the use of a flexible display.

Expect to find navigation buttons, control buttons and ports from outside similar to current Lumia devices. Proposed specs include .8 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB RAM, storage options of 32GB/ 64 GB, support for 2G/ 3G/ 4G LTE network, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC for connectivity. Such a grand Smartphone is going to need power hence the battery of Lumia 1080 will be of 2500 mAh capacity.
