Amsterdam International Fashion Week: Michael Barnaart van Bergen

Designer Michael Barnaart van Bergen released his first pret-a-porter collection at Amsterdam International Fashion Week “09 with a handbag line alongside his couture pieces. His ready-to-wear collection is just as sophisticated, luxurious and classy as his couture is known for. His collection is called “L’Hiver Brulant” and is inspired by elegant, ambitious woman with international flair. Barnaart van Bergen presented a classy look, in which femininity played a purest role. Refined fabrics, graphic compositions, expressive colours-mostly orange- and a clean silhouette underline his design signature. In January 2008, the Dutch fashion media was introduced to Michael Barnaart van Bergen, as he showed his first collection while participating at the C’est Brilliante show at AIFW. He had presented a couture collection made of paper, inspired by the perishableness of fashion, which granted him the status of highly promising talent. Numerous events and special projects followed, as the popularity of his designs was recognized by many. With his new collection, Barnaart van Bergen impressed the audience and received a huge applause followed by a standing ovation.
