Mutewatch at Dezeen Watch Store

The timepiece conceals a clock, alarm and timer in a digital touchscreen face so the numbers are only visible at the touch of the wearer.

The touchscreen face removes all need for dials and buttons: wake the screen with a touch then swipe sideways to scroll between functions.

New Arcade Fire website by Vincent Morisset

Vincent Morisset has created a new website to promote Arcade Fire track Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains), which encourages users to interact with the characters on the screen via a webcam…

The site is the latest in a series of collaborations between Morisset and Arcade Fire, which has previously included an interactive website for the track Neon Bible and a tour film, Miroir Noir. For Sprawl II, Morisset has filmed a number of set pieces of figures performing awkward, jerky dance routines against suburban backdrops. Visitors to the site can interact with the figures by ‘dancing’ (or simply waving their hands) in front of their webcams, or by moving a mouse.

Morisset has built a reputation for creating intuitive, charming sites that show off the creative possiblities of the web without bamboozling people with complicated technology, and he continues this here. The site for Sprawl II is intriguing and fun to play with, and, crucially, the pace and tone of it works well with Arcade Fire’s song.

To interact with the Sprawl II website, visit sprawl2.com. More of Morisset’s work can be viewed at vincentmorisset.com (we strongly recommend checking out his interactive art piece BLA BLA if you haven’t already). And in other Morisset news, he’s recently signed to Unit9 for interactive representation.

Ryan Todd in Warsaw

London-based illustrator Ryan Todd was approached by Asphalt Store, a fixed gear bike and accessories shop in Warsaw, to create an instore installation. He obliged and tips the Polish bike shop as a creative hub worth keeping an eye on…

“There is a really interesting vibe in Warsaw at the moment,” says Todd, “almost like Berlin five to ten years ago in that there are lots of interesting people starting to do interesting things. And these guys at Asphalt, a modest start-up bike shop are amongst those at the heart of it. They’re really interested in forming new collaborations with international artists and encouraging them to create new work in their space.”

Given a carte blanche to create new work, Todd created four light boxes that are displayed in the shop’s windows. “The name of the show is The Other Side of Town,” says Todd, “and each of the icon-like illustrations visualise recognisable objects that all feature peculiarities. Things aren’t quite what they seem.”

Nice vintage finds in the Netherlands

Arabia

Oh boy am I enjoying my visit here in the Netherlands… one of my habits when being here is visiting all the second hand shops looking for vintage ceramics and else… my harvest so far: a beautiful breakfast set including coffee cups, plates and bowls by Ulla Procopé for ARABIA Finland, the Anemone Rosmarin pattern…

Arabia_annualplates
and more from ARABIA… two beautiful annual plates, 1978 and 1979 … they make me super happy, such a nice little treasure!

Edmondbellefroid

… this lovely wall tile from 1967 by Edmond de Bellefroid for Mosa Maastricht and cute little candle holders from Bavaria Germany. Below a set of these beautiful red vases, yes they are from West Germany. and on the right a vintage handmade measurement.

I still find it amazing what people just give away… but I don't mind I am more than happy to give them a new home in Malaysia.
