pExcellent design writing, whether commentary, criticism or reportage, is valued very highly here at Core77. So, we are more than excited to announce that the a href=”https://www.aiga.org/secure/WinterhouseAwards”5th annual Winterhouse Writing Awards/a for has just opened this year’s competition. From the call for entries:/p

blockquoteThe awards will be given for writing that demonstrates the greatest evidence of eloquence, analysis, perspective, insight and original thinking to further a public understanding of design in contemporary culture. Writing that advances the visual expression of a design program, argument or thesis is also eligible. Entries may address any design discipline or form, including, but not limited to: architectural, environmental, fashion, graphic, industrial, information, interactive, product and strategic./blockquote

pThere are two types of awards: The Writing Award of $10,000 will be awarded to writers, critics, scholars, historians, journalists and designers for a given embody of work/em. The Education Award of $1,000 will be granted to students who write in the interest of making visual work, scholaship or cultural observation./p
