Wanted: Photographer to Ride Off into Sunset

sunset.jpgRare is the magazine that was founded 110 years ago and named for a railroad line (Southern Pacific’s Sunset Limited), but Sunset is no ordinary magazine. Dedicated to “living in the west,” Sunset last year added Dwell veteran Allison Arieff to its staff as editor-at-large and continues to ramp up its design coverage (especially the eco-friendly kind) in addition to its mainstay topics of travel, gardening, home, and food and wine. Now the magazine is looking for a staff photographer to join its lushly gardened offices in Menlo Park, California. In addition to industry experience in editorial photography, the ideal candidate will bring “an understanding and appreciation of design and current design trends” and the “ability to communicate ideas visually and work creatively within limited budgets.” And while gardening expertise is by no means required, it probably wouldn’t hurt to know a globe thistle from a sneezeweed.
