Ubald Klug’s precision slicing adds dimension to plywood

Designer Ubald Klug’s deceptively simple-looking Shell cupboard has a beautiful, materials-capabilities-pushing detail: A series of thin grooves cut into the plywood enables the wood to turn a 90-degree corner.

The orange you see in the detail photo isn’t an interior lamp–it’s light filtering through the thinnest part of the veneer.
