This Just Inbox: Joongho Choi’s counterbalanced lamps, magic fedoras, garbage ribbons and more

The Confront Lamp is the latest work by designer Jonghoo Choi. Like his Chorong Lamp, released earlier this year, Confront references “traditional Korean material and language” while focusing on the counterbalanced image of the balance scale, separating the light source from the switch. We’re not sure that this will help people “measure the value of light,” as Choi proposes, but it does make for an interesting form.

In fact, Choi’s website are full of projects like these: short, almost trite descriptions are attached to strange objects with implications that easily outrun their explanation. For example, check out the Magic Fedora series and Waste Wrapping Ribbon below:

We’re not sure what Jonghoo is up to exactly, but we like it.
