The New Millennium Paper Airplane Book

A delightful collection of paper airplane designs and their accompanying stories, “The New Millennium Paper Airplane Book” by Klara Hobza documents her art happening at the New York Hall of Science in Queens last fall.

The New Millennium Paper Airplane Contest, an homage to a similar event that took place there in 1967, attracted some 200 participants, an event made possible by the Public Art Fund’s “In the Public Realm” program for emerging artists.

Featuring contest winners alongside some of Hobza’s favorite designs, the Czech-born, New York-based artist peppers the book with anecdotes recorded on the day of the contest. The brief tales—ranging from nostalgic to political to empirical—remind the reader of the myriad ways that this most humble of aircrafts lingers in our imagination.

Perforated pages contains the blueprints for each design and detailed instructions for assembly.
